The iphone is a gadget first, phone second. There have been a few phones out that have been compared to the iPhone and had better reviews (such as the HDC Touch HD, or the LG Viewety), but it's horses for courses.

I know people that have them and they are rock solid, however you are very limited to the types of application you can run on there (i.e. you pretty much have to download them from apple, and pay for the privilege)

Personally, I would go for the Nokia N95 8Gb, as it's got the best aerial of a mobile at the moment, a very decent camera on it, very responsive and rock solid - but that's just me

:D i have the n95, and love it to pieces, and it's not even the 8gb one. The camera is superb, unlike on the i phone, which only has a 2mb or so camera. I thought i would just note onto the n96 when it arrived, but having seen one in the flesh so to speak, i was very disapointed, it's like a shiny plastic brick :-( i just ordered the lg renoir, looks nice, but will have to be good to replace my n95, which, i an currently typing this post on, as i am on the way back from scotland, not driving i hasten to add! So if it's all in one long line of typing then i'm sorry :D :D

My mate has the I Phone, with it you cant forward texts you have been sent or if someone sends you a picture you have to go online to view it...
So in my view its more of a gadget than a phone!!!
Only my view though, Myself I would go for the nokia anyday!!!

If you go for the Nokia N95/96, it has built in gps and can then be used with the Viewranger mapping software which is also very good. You can then get the most out of your investment as its a laning gps, phone& decent camera

I have the original 2G Iphone and it's great. It is hacked and on Vodaphone, and is great to use to surf and get email on the go.

The 3G ones do have a shorter battery life.

I did drop it while I was overseas and although there was no visible damage, it did need a new touchscreen at a cost of £156.

I would n't be with out it.
