Hi there all. Firstly id like to introduce myself as liane, hows everyone??? Now to the point, i need help, I own a 98 2.0i sport which is the old shape with the updated interior and the engine with the plastic rocker cover, this is my 2nd sport and iv never had a single problem with either and i do all my own mechanics but im not very electrical minded, 2 weeks ago i went out to start it and she wont go, replaced plugs and leads as ya do to no avail, iv got a good spark on all 4 but it seems feul is slow into the injectors and no pressure build up? it was fine the day before so pump going overnight and without any warning seems odd. Anyone any ideas please please please??? XX

check the fuel pump relay and fuel filters

Ah yes forgot to say that someone else said check relay, Girly bit now, where is it, i got a new relay from vauxhall but it dont match any others on the car either in fuse box or the ones on inner wing. XX

thanks all, found relay, i think??? next to radiator, only socket the one vauxhall gave me would fit in anyway but to no avail, still nothing. done filter too but my neighbour said i should hear a buzzing when i turn the ignition on which is the feul pump?? is that true, dont recall hearing it before. Could this be the immobiliser packed up and not cutting off? alarm works cos it went off when i reconnected the battery. Thanks again everyone and thanks for the welcome. xx

Hi Liane, welcom to fog. And in answer to your question the fuel pump doe'nt run untill the engine is cranked over so you wont hear a humm. I have had a similar problem and it was the fuel pump. It just packed up. I bought a second hand one from a breakers for £40 tested it in a bucket of fuel while attaching all fuel lines on and it worked a treat. So put it back in the tank reatached and filled up with fuel and all is now perfect again. Hope this helps.
