I know its a windows pc/pda app. A roadangel is a speed camera detector with GPS built into it and a database of speed camera locations in its little brain, the gps is supposedly able to communicate with pc's and gps enabled software (IE memory Map or similar) through a serial cable giving you a real time location just like a satnav (tomtom or similar) but will be usable for off road routes, greenlanes etc. The only problem is that the roadangel serial cable is proprietry to roadangel and they want an arm and a leg for it. And neither Memory Map folks or roadangel will confirm if the communication protocols are the same. Memory map only supports Garmin and a couple of other GPS systems. you takes pot luck with everything else.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

Shame your dropping out, I was looking forward to meeting as many folks as possible. Have a lady friend coming with me as well just to balance things a bit.

With regards to kit, I have pretty much got it covered with:

10mtr 5T tow strap
5mtr 2T tow strap
2 x 10T D shackles
Branch loppers
Bow saw
Toolkit
Misc spares for Fronty
Various lights and torches
Enough flasks for an army of midgets
CB and an old coathanger with a magnet on it for an aerial
2 x PMR's
Tent
Various tent accessories
Gloves
Camping Gaz stove and various cooking bits

If anyone can add anything to this would be most appreciated.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

I'll take a space nearer the time if there's one going - can't gaurantee anything at the mo as car seems to be a bit poorly, he's going to have to go to the garage I think :( :( :(

If I can't come on the days out, I'll def make an evening or two :drink: :drink: - it would be rude not to :D :D

Im eating in the pub
Nice garlic mushroom pizza :P

Get your recovery gear together plenty of info on the site about that, though on the lanes we souldnt need it unless we meet a slippy patch.

Remember guys its not a pay and play weekend
No one should get seriously stuck.
But the gear is handy for breakdowns

Butties for Lunch.

Make sure you have a good roll mat under your sleeping bag, it will be cold without it.

Plenty to drink through the day.

A basic tool kit helps, though dont go over the top, remember the weight

We can meet at the campsite, Im getting there mid afternood hopefully.

If your driving up the A5 from Betws y coed pass an Army traing camp its shortly after that on your left, keep you eyes peeled in the dark, you will miss it
If you come to a pub with a Stage coach on your left in the car park, turn around youve gone just under a mile to far

When I used to go walking and climbing we used to kip in a hi lux surf, front seats forward rears folded and there was more room than the tent

Ive slept in that pub car park in a Sport in the snow, after a laning trip, we went the pub and decided drink was the order of he day so we kipped in the cars 8)

Lawrence will remember that day, it was in all that snow a couple of years ago

The sport was comffy head rests off seat right back to the floor like a lounger

The farmer on the campsite will still charge you though

Dont mind meeting you (or anyone else for that matter) somewhere (Corwen or dolgellau perhaps) and going up together, of course that depends on which way your going to drive up. We could make it a proper convoy!

havent got a clue where they are, sir-doris. my knowlage of welsh geography is about the same as my knowlage of brain surgery, i know where it is, but i'm buggered if i have to point bits out. i'll have to check on my map. but would be cool to try and make up a convoy. hopefully fitting my cb at the wekend, if it stops raining long enough.

cheers carl, not too sure about drift though, i'm sure the crimea is somewhere near russia  seeing as lynne is'nt coming, what can i get her that is very welsh( although there will b probably be a fair percentage of snowdonia trapped in the wheel arches). Think i'll just get a mag mount for the cb ariel for the time being, till i get a bull bar or A bar fitted.
