First Frontera :)

Uh oh! Taken the plunge, and gone and bought a Frontera 2.5 TDS SWB
£450 gets me one of Vauxhalls finest in snazzy green , 2 flat tyres, no MOT or Tax, has been stood for 2 nd half years, but, it has been garaged and started from time to time....
Its on a P plate too

2.5 VM Engine - Only 75000 on the clock (and guaranteed - know the lass who I bought it from!)


Drivers side view - nice and clean, no rust on sills.


Comes with fitted towbar


And just a little rust scab on rear quarter by light...


Clean interior, wants a little dust though


Oil Pressures on normal idle and midway rev....


2 x Flat 255-65-R16 Tyres.... With inner tubes???!!!!!


Will be getting tyres sorted tomorrow and taking straight to garage for MOT - it does have a full ticketed service book, and seeing as its never been off roaded and like mentioned, garaged for last 2 and bit years, shouldn't really be anything to go badly wrong.. but I think a full service would be nice wouldn't it?!
Oh, and why WOULD 2 of the tyres have inner tubes - buggered rim or some other, evil nasty problem?!

So... anyone with any ideas what the value would be like if it DID have a full MOT and 6 months tax on the window?

Welcome to the Frontera Owners Group.

Nice find and good luck with the MOT - If it's been stood for a couple of years you'll be best off checking all the brakes to ensure they've not seized. Give it a good service including oil and water and obviously check the brake and clutch fluids.

The VX alloys do corrode where the tyres seat and this might be the reason the tubes were fitted (as the corrosion allows air to escape).

As for a guide price, I'm not sure - best bet is to see what similar models are fetching on the ebay.

Well, got the tyres sorted out today (Cheers Tyre Chief of Chesterfield - Mobile Tyre Repair!) £52 for 2x inner tubes fitted and tyres checked and repaired.

Got a days worth of insurance to drive it legally - drove it few miles to garage and no binding, but didnt dare take it about 50 on bypass as I'm still wary and it had a hell of a shake when I took it to 55 - but I guess the wheels need balancing etc etc.
No smoke or bad clutch / brakes though, but a little bit of play on steering - but from what I've read, half an inch is the norm?
Couple of thoughts though if anyone can shed any light ....
When indicating, the towbar light flashes - as mentioned, there is a towbar fitted, so I'm guessing something needs to be switched off somewhere?
Also, I'm guessing the rear indicator lights are mounted in the rear bumper and not the main rear light cluster?

It's in for the dreaded MOT tomorrow, so I'll either be back tomorrow weeping like a schoolgirl, or yayying with beer and a tightly clutched to chest certificate!

Yay! Disaster has been averted, and apart from a bloody flat front tyre (one that appeared ok - mech reckons just needs resealing!) the MOT has gone ok!!
Well, apart from needing brake pipes replacing .. and at £115 I can't really grumble at that!
According to mech, its a nice little truck and thats a good price you've paid!!!

Having it fully serviced tomorrow as part and parcel of MOT and brake pipes doing, so full cost to get the Green Monster back on the road will be....

£450 to buy, £52 for tyres, £40 for MOT, £115 for Pipes, £95 for Full Service, Tax £99 .... £800!!!

However... I dread to think what the 2.5 litre VM engines going to eat in diesel!!
