Hi and welcome.
All the engines have their pros and cons as Im sure others will testify. I have a 2.2 petrol. LWB 1995. Reasonable on juice, comfortable on a motorway at 75/80. Not too bad in the corners either but it definately doesnt handle like a car in any way whatsoever. So if your new to 4x4 then watch out for that and you will learn to adjust your driving habits accordingly. However it isnt great on the old overtaking thing and now I am quite happy to sit behind a slower vehicle and wait for a longish straight. On the plus side though it does have a fair amount of torque and I have towed cars and fully loaded trailers with no problems at all. this is my personal opinion of the 2.2 Petrol. Others have their preferences, but until I get a 2.8 Diesel I am quite happy with it. Mechanically they are all fairly straightforward as well.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it! Me Truck
