Does anyone know where updated laning maps can be bought.
It would appear that many lanes are now Bridleways and not legal for us to drive on but how do we know. Nobody puts any notices up and maps dont appear to be updated very often.
Ignorance is no excuse I know but if alane was legal last week it might not be today. Do we check every time we use it? and who do we check with?

I am registered with wayfinder but it still awkward to find exactly what you want to be unless you know the grid references already. If you're new to this its very difficult.

Have a look at an Ordnance Survey Map (1:50,000) - this will show you what you are looking for.
Whilst the map will show you the physical location of the "green lanes" (BOAT's and ORPA's), it is then your responcibility to determine their leagal status by contacting the Rights Of Way department of the local Council. Generally though, if a lane is closed (with a Traffic Regulation Order - TRO), the access to the lane should be suitably signed. Driving any other type of unsurfaced lane could get you procecuted. Now I'm getting it. Thanks for all the help I'll go and try to use the info youve given.
I wont be driving any lanes on my own though.
