Hello Everyone, 2.0ltr SWB Frontera

Hi ,

Just got my SWB 1995 2.0ltr Frontera Sport S on Wednesday and have a few questions for you lot.

1.Where is or should the Jack be, I can't find it or the place it should be.

2. Where's the best place to get some wheel nuts for it as the ones on it are all a bit mix & match if you see what i mean.

3. How do i tell if it's got a LSD in the rear axel.

4. Is there any mod going to put the rear seats forward a bit to give my dog a bit more room instead of folding them up.

And,

5. What is the most common oil leak on this engine, It has a very minor one which i would like to sort of if poss.

This is not my first 4x4, i had a 2.5TD Pajero for almost 3 years and loved every minute of it and miss it lot's but ended up selling it as at the time i could not afford to keep it and my bike on the road.

First of all, TO THE FRONTERA NUT HOUSE

Question 1 : The jack should be under the left hand side panel, in the boot area, where the roll bar and the seatbelt feed through. you should find 3 screws you can turn by hand.

Question 2 : That ones easy, Vauxhall stealers or local scrap yard.

Question 3 : L.S.D, are you having a laugh The rear end setup on this year of fronty is pre-historic. (LSD only fitted to later "b" series)

Question 4 : No, unfortunately, you have to live with it. I've got a very large 12 month old labrador pup, who won't fit in the boot any more.

Question 5 : Could be several, most common is the rocker cover gasket, around £2.50 to repair.

Then there is the more severe end of the scale, the crankshaft oil seal, seal costs around £3.00, total job costs around £250 as the whole engine has to be removed.

Also make sure the oil filler cap is sealed correctly, this is a common leaking point, and it leaks all down the engine from front to back, making it difficult to find any other leaks.

The oil leek does not seem to be as bad as i thought, more that linkly just spilt oil thats been running down the outside of the engine over time.

I'll check for the jack in a bit and let you all know if it's there or not.
