Hi guys n gals..
New member here... Im looking for a Frontera-B to buy...
Im thinking of going for a SWB as I dont need the space of a 5 door. My price range is limited and ive found a few possibilities... But im gonna start off with a quiz.... Is this low resolution image of a Fronter-A or B? I have an idea but would like your input.. Ive searched the forum of what I should check IF i go to view this vehicle and understand for a small sum someone on the forum may come to view it with me?
Anyway here is it :
Also any advise on what I should buy would be great. Idealy as I said Im looking at a 1999, 2000 Frontera-B im thinking 2.2 but thats about it. No idea what else I should think of (mileage, tyres, etc). Main use for the next 10months would be off-road.
Cheers,
Regards

Hi Smit,
You have come to the right place for advice! I would suggest that you fill in your profile next so that we know where you are from etc etc.
I am no expert and some of the guy's on this forum willl advise you accordingly.
I had to go for the LWB due to the family! My own personal opinion is to go for the diesel model, but like I said that is my opinion (I don't even know if the SWB B series was produced with a diesel engine )
One thing I have noticed is that the B series seems to have been produced with more LWB than SWB, again I may be wrong and corrected accordingly.
Hope this helps.
OH...and welcome to the forum.
Cheers,
Huw.

Thanks again for all the help.....
Can anyone advise on the 2.2 SWB petrol Fronty-B's capability. There are many more petrol version available in my price range which ultimately give me more choice and a greater chance at getting what I want at the price I want it.
Surely there isnt a great difference in performance compared to the 2.2DTi once the nice large m/t tyres go on? Or is it more a reliability/engine wear issue? Im led to believe Diesel engines 'go' further?
Cheers!

Hi. The car you're talking about is a Petrol 2.2 Ecotec engine, 4x4 switch on the fly.
Around Manchester the average price for a low miler Fronty B with colour coded bumpers etc. seems to be £2995.
If you are looking to it to offroad mainly then I'd go for a diesel. But why pay this much for mainly offroading in the first place? You could buy a '94/95 2.0 litre SWB petrol AND completely kit it out for this much.
