Guinness World Record Attempt - DiscussionModerator: bobbinsjob If i'm perfectly honest, i think we may be looking at next year now cos there are only 2 months left of summer and good weather, plus most if not all racedays will have full itineries (spelling). With the contacts I now have at Rockingham and Silverstone, we will more than likely get a high profile day at one of the courses.
just noticed by the way, Rockingham's International-Long circuit is 2.56 miles long so it would meet our requirements, plus they have a 4x4 offroad track which may be available afterwards for a bit of a play. Also, although we already have enough cars to set a record, doing it next year would give us more time to attract even more fronties and allow plenty of notice for people to arrange time off work etc, so that we have a truly humungous convoy. There is so much to organise now, venue, date, witnesses(sorted), photographer(sorted), media coverage, accomodation, Autojumble (Patsy), plus other stuff i cant think of right now, that it may be too much of a tall order to get done in time for a 2007 event. ![]() SIZE DOES MATTER!! yes i agree next year will be a little better for confirmign dates and getting everyone ready i no how much stress the organisers are under when trying to remember all the little details for an event i only had 19 people attend stainby but wow how much stress
so my hats off to those who have taken the bull by the horns and are organising something this big ive printed around 20 fliers and have nailed around 7 or 8 fronties in different carparks around the area ill keep doing it until we get more people commitet to attending do we need any form of liability insurance for the event i used footman james for stainby they were very helpfull i can recomend them for this sort of thing
GWRBring on the gwr,im up fpr it,i got a niagra sport called Bert.
I'm with the rest of the crowd here - definitely *no* rush for this one.
2008 somewhen is cool. Gives plenty of time to get *everything* sorted, and to get as many folks as possible there... I'm gonna start with some flyers and thingd own here too, and we'll see what we can do Jim...

Hi All, Ian you have done a fantastic job Mate from an idea to something as big as this, if you need any help, just ask for volunteers, you seem to have a lot sorted but please don't try and take on too much yourself, delegate some work to others, many hands and all that.
I hope this comes off in a big way amd you can give a speech at the event. It's a good idea bout not rushing thngs, as it gives everyone the personal time they need to plan and also it gives the site and the event more time to get more no's. ATB. Reeco
hello mate, as soon as we've got a venue and a date, then the planning has to start, so i think a sort of committee of volunteers will be needed to take charge of things such as accommodation, media coverage, finances, H&S, charities, etc...
talking of charities, i was talking to my bro-in-law who has organised quite a few motor sports events, some for charity. he said that if, instead of everyone donating £10 to their own individual charity, we should have a vote on say the top five favourite charities, then either all the money raised is split between those five, or 50% to the 5 and 50% to the individual charities. this way charities will benefit from a greater sum of money and we will make more of an impact, publicity wise by donating large sums of cash rather than tiny bits to loads of different charities which would probably be eaten up by admin costs anyway. what are your thoughts? ![]() SIZE DOES MATTER!! Regarding the charity issue - good idea - moving that idea forward...
I would propose that anyone who wishes to nominate a charity does so (in a new thread), then those nominations are composed at a later date into a poll to be voted on. Lawrence
dont forget theres something you all can support this forum we need donations to keep it running
A legend in my own mind
i agree, in which case the money could be split say 50/40/10 or summink like that.

Do you think VX will help us out, not trying to spoil it or anything but they havent been very friendly in the press lately, <my local rag>saying the frontera was bad mistake , Yes it would be nice to have their backing but wouldnt it be better to do it without VX help, more of a challenge for us all, thats my opinon any way , what ever happens you have my support.
