New Frontera owner

Postby bobstar on Fri Sep 28, 2018 4:25 pm

Hi all,

Thanks for the add, I am a new Frontera owner. My name's Bob, i'm from Luton - also home of the Frontera and am a car detailer and IT engineer. I have just bought a V reg 3.2 V6 Limited off a friend who used to build these beasties back in the day. I've covered a good thousand or so miles already taking it on holiday to Northern Ireland to see my brother and his partner and kids. I also run a 2012 Jaguar XF S which i'm trying to cut down how many miles I do as its also my car show car, and a 2002 Seat Toledo for hacking about in on the daily commute. The Frontera is a useful addition for detailing and carrying tools about and for holidays where the Jag won't take all the guff I need to haul along!

I have just serviced my Frontera, named Kevin, with genuine parts and Shell 5w-40 fully synthetic oil. It runs a peach but just needs a couple of minor issues sorting out. First thing is to treat and paint a couple of rusty patches and then sort out the instrument cluster. Speedo works intermittently but lights need to be on for anything of the cluster to work.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob and welcome to fog. Congratulations on the V6 I've yet to have one in that variant. I'm sure you will get the minor issues sorted but feel free to ask for help on here if needed.

Cluster issues are common with the b series. If they still work ok with the lights on that's not bad going,
Walkthroughs on here or cluster repairs will sort them for £129

Thanks Guys! I have swapped out the cluster with a working set, easy job and took about 1 hr all in with taking pics as I went. New cluster had 4k miles less than current cluster too so not a bad match! I've sorted the live feed to the headunit out - next job sort out speakers and eventually I'm planning a double din HU with Pioneer speaker upgrade too and change backlit colours of dials to ice blue soon.

Have also sorted rusted sill out and welded in new metal, thats ready for painting and underseal within the arch. Coming along nicely.
