Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!
It's an Hydraulic Damper, not fitted to all models apparently and is used to assist in progressive take up of the drive. This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ) Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck. Comments on 'O-no' the truck may be left here Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'Truck' Comments on 'Truck' the truck may be left here Owning a 2.8 is a hobby in it's self...
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!just picked my fronty up from local mechanic, been off the road now for over month missed out on all that lovely snow to play in ,but hope its all sorted now .Had new power steering pipes (many thanks to Greg),new brake pipes throughout ,fuel filter ,oil and filter and auto gearbox oil changed .Drives like a dream now ,So happy siting here beaming from ear to ear lol
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Stripped and cleaned both front brake caliper lifted the front 2 inch with torsion bar, lifted rear with new shocks and springs. Removed the rear bumper reinforcement cross member so I can attempt to try and repair/fabricate one during the week. Still got top/bottom ball joints to do during the week when they arrive.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!
Is this the Duck that's getting the overall Matt? Do you do the socket on an extension bar and quick kick on the key to loosen it?
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!
I didn't want to do that, so I got my big impact gun out, 1600nm of torc will undo or break it And yes it is the duck, I've even started on the body work.. will be needing a few bits, and a post will go up CARTREK

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Stsrted her for the first time since.............. Feb!!
She started first time never fails to amaze me need gonna get ready for a mot
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Yesterday i changed the outer cv joint and today did track rods both sides and front shocks was going to do the rear as well but the top bolts look like they have rusted into 1 peice so need to know the size to get replcement bolts first
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Not quite today but the last few weeks......
Underseal job Re-painted anything underneath that wasn't undersealed Re-painted all calipers Re-painted side step bars Repaired & re-painted the bit of corrosion rear sills Re-painted things like the radiator locking clips, battery tray, battery strap etc Cut out the rust from the A bar / number plate bracket, welded in new missing sections, painted and re-fitted Oil & filter change (Valvoline Synpower Fully Syn) Then did a job I've been meaning to do for a couple of years..... Krylon Fusion the hard top in matt black Then a job I've been meaning to do for a year at least.... full polish Ready for winter now. It's a 2.2 dti RS Sport, '03 with 82k on the clock. Only ever used during winter now and owned this one for 10 years, previous to that a 2.8 tdi SWB for the previous 8 years. Both me and the wife love the truck, it's running a chip express performance box which makes it a different vehicle, difficult to stall, responsive and good on fuel. With what I've done in the last 2 years, leak of pipe, vacuum pipes, fixed the diesel leak in the flow/return pipes, a wheel sensor, new exhaust, I think I'll put a bit more into it next year, do some work on the rear bumper reinforcement bar and replace the brake disk shields. It runs superb, leather interior with heated seats. What more do you want from a 4x4. Cost me £4500 10 years ago with 32k on the clock so besides the time painting and cleaning it hasn't cost me a great deal over and above what I've done in the last couple of years. I think 2 front wheel bearings and a second sensor. Shame they still don't make them as they are still one of the best looking 4x4's on the road and I'd buy another in a shot. For me, plenty of space in the sport even with the seats folded forward. Just the right size vehicle. I'll try and post a couple of pics. I'd like a new set of BFG AT KO2's and to have the wheels coated, maybe black or graphite, but if I do the extra work next year, them maybe I will. Off for an early MOT tomorrow.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well.... passed the MOT the other day and yesterday I got to drive the truck, first time since last March. It's off the road over spring/summer and I've been a bit busy getting everything done on this one and another I've been working on amongst everything else.
Anyway, the Mrs always sees to have it as she does the lesser mileage but from now on it's mine as often as I can and yesterday was a pleasure. It drives just like I bought it 10 years ago with 32k on the clock and it still looks as good. The steering is tight and everything works as it should, the heater is superb and the heated seats are not long up and running. I did spend last Sunday giving it full polish and the attached pics are from 5 days later so not quite clean after it's been used all week albeit in the dry. I even had time to clean inside the hood and engine bay with some diy detailer. Looking forward to the rest of winter You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Attempting to change the outer cv boots....what a mare.
I've not had it long so I'm discovering the curses of the previous owners First off the circlip and shim were freely floating in the hub. Then the hub nut was mega tight. , had to whack it with a punch to get moving. Then I've gone and ripped the rubbers on the upper and lower balljoints attempting to seperate them. Breaking a pooey 3 leg puller in the process. It's all in pieces awaiting new parts...and I've the same to do on the other side. Think it'll be off the road a while as MOT is up tomorrow Wish me luck ...
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!MOT failed with Greenstripe!
