engine management light2002 2.2dti lwb 4+4.recently replaced clutch.both actuators on both axles.4+4 working fine.green light wont stop flashing.my problem is the eml.comes on on tickover then goes out when put into gear ,increase revs to pull away and light goes out and stays out.it does not affect running of the car,all it does is get on my nerves.any thoghts would be very much appreciated.thanks in advance...Gerry j.
Re: engine management lightHave you replaced the vac pipes? Did you ensure all hoses were reconnected correctly?
Re: engine management lightthe fact the green light on the 4x4 button keeps flashing means 4wd is not engaging properly, it should be a solid light. if both actuators have been replaced recently id check all vac pipes are connected properly , as for the eml coming on briefly that could be caused by the vac pipes. might be an idea to see if any codes have registered !
WHY AINT I GOT AN ALL SINGING & ALL DANCING SIGNATURE LIKE BOXY & DRIFTY ?
Re: engine management lightall vac pipes have been replaced in correct order, very very recently.the 4 wheel drive works as it should do.the green light goes solid.both axles are working.know this as I have had it up on a ramp at a mates garage.when you press button to come out of 4 wheel drive the axles disengage but the green light just carries on flashing.i might have upset my mate as I am always bothering him for the use of his ramp.all vac pipes have been done correctly.so perhaps you can understand my problem.but thank you for any thoughts you might have had.no codes registered.everything cleared.
Re: engine management lightHad the same problem with mein bud it was the pipe line that comes from the back off the bulk head am sure it goes to the actuator or turbo meins was off a little bit bud the pipe to get to you have to stand over the front off engine it's right at the bulk head underneath windscreen
Re: engine management lightPipe that is by the bulkhead goes into the vac pump this one often gets missed/left as it's fiddly.
Re: engine management lightthat is the thought that I have eventually arrived at.thank you for your thoughts.i will have a stab at it next week when I can have access to my mates ramp.in the dry and warmth.once again thank you.
Re: engine management lightYou don't need a ramp bud take your plastic cover off top off engine and you'll see it a bit better sits right underneath your windscreen so you have to practically lye over the top off your engine to reach it so better done on the ground bud Easyer to get to just abit fidley to put pipe on a stood on a few concrete block just to get a bit height so a could reach over to put pipe on made it a bit Easyer rather than standing normal to reach it
Re: engine management lightthanks everybody for your thoughts on the subject.if as and when the weather lets me near my old banger I can then have a stab at it. once again thank you all for your thoughts on the subject.
Re: engine management lightWotcha Gerry...if I dont speak to you before have a good Christmas bud...

Re: engine management lightGet it done bud take you 20 mins tops to do just a bit fidley where pipe sits but you will notice a power increase in your jeep also when this is sorted worth doing bud
Re: engine management light
cheers mate and the same to your good self.
Re: engine management light
job done.seems to run better but the eml still comes on when you slow down at junctions etc..only when the engine has warmed up.may have to live with it unless somebody comes up with something nobody thought of.
Re: engine management lightI had a similar issue and it was the maf
Re: engine management light
sorry to be a wet blanket,,been there done it ..changed egr,,done all the vac pipes both top and bottom, that includes pipes on both actuators..so presumably I have forgotten something.replaced all three solenoids on the nearside inner bulkhead in engine bay,,.so a thought on something I may have missed.thanks in advance.had a diagnostic done and it came up with one code.po400.i am given to understand by the machine at the time that this was fuel critical.however looking on line that code comes up as vac related.the car itself goes like a train, there is no smoke,it starts as it should and generally does what I expect it to do.and yes the codes were cleared.no smell of fuel, get good mpg so at the moment I am at a bit of a loss.
Re: engine management lightTry a diesel filter bud some times get chocked up and also the butterfly Manafold can have nasty deposits off soot and carbon or crank shaft sensor tipical problems
