Best hidden cameras

Postby Rifleman on Sun Aug 06, 2017 4:23 pm

Hi guys.
Does anyone know what kind of hidden camera would be best for using in a care home?
Thing are going missing in my dad's room and nobody seems to know anything.
I need something like a picture frame that has a motion detector but one that has a long time before needing charged, as we are not there every day.
Cant put a clock in as dad can't see it.
Shame it has come to this.
Thanks.
Regards, Keith.

It's a shame about the clock as you can get mains powered ones so you wouldn't have to worry about charging. Which ever one you get make sure to buy a decent memory card for it (don't buy it with the device as places charge a big premium for relatively small cards) and the biggest capacity it will take as old footage is overwritten when it fills up and if your not able to download it regularly you might miss something.

To avoid getting 'caught' downloading it at the home simply buy an extra memory card and just swap them over and download the footage at home.

You could go with something like this https://www.eyetek.co.uk/hidden-camera-usb-charger as it's mains powered motion detection (so will fill the card slower) and everyone has a usb charger these days so will be inconspicuous. This might be worth a punt http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1080P-HD-Spy- ... 2548.l4275 but won't be full 1080p probably upscaled so check footage and area covered before putting into the home. The disadvantage is someone by borrow the charger to charge their phone!

There is even a table lamp https://www.eyetek.co.uk/lamp-camera-dvr

Smoke detectors are good as they can be placed in the centre of a room and give a wide coverage but these will be battery powered same as PIR detectors. HOwever if in motion mode they should have a decent standby (no recording time).

Does the care home have WiFi? Can maybe get some sort of,ip camera so you can see things in real time, but they will also allow you to record wouldn't be the issue of memory card, running out but you might miss things if you aren't watching, although I guess this is the part you can record.

The WIFI is secured and it would be a bit obvious if I asked to use it.
Plugging anything into the mains is going to be obvious too. and they are not in a great position.
I have decided to take it up with the manager again however, and she has promised to get it sorted.
As I have a good relationship with her I have given her the chance to.
If it doesn't work, then head office will be informed.
Hopefully this will come to an end. We shall see.
Regards, Keith.

Keith im sure you can get double Sockets that are also mains powered hidden cameras. These would possibly not look out of place. Not sure where you get them though, or weather you`d be comfortable changing it whilst live.
