I bought mine back for the dead, it didn't take much it had been parked up for 4 months I'd not even turned the key, I went out to try it get in turned the key the lights come on I thought that's a good start gave it 3-4 hits of glow plug and it went first flick of the key. For the 4 months it was sat there the battery was connected and I didn't need a just start. I love my fronty

Iv'e used mine as a site vehicle all week full of tools and traditionally forged railings as Iv'e been installing them into stonework in a villge outside Canterbury. Even had a welder generator in the back ,running, while I did some welding in the road just behind the fronty.
I expect to be working on it all next week as well.

Changed oil and filter, need to do the air filter, but couldn't source one today. Gave the torsion bars a little tweak to take out 15 years of use.

New front pads and disks at the front on the Mk.II. Was needed after this happened the other week. Bought some cheap disposable pads to tie me over until I could do a proper job. Also replaced all the seals and piston on the passenger front as it was leaking a bit.

Took it for MOT only failed on rear brake pipes Result!!!!!!!

Fitted the tow bar that Greg sent me. Two new coil springs also turned up, but ran out of time. Think I will hold off fitting those until I get a pair of shocks.

Replaced the glow plugs on the 2.8 hopefully the car will start in the mornings now.
But when I removed the glow plug from number one cylinder it was covered in oil hope it's not a the start of the head gasket on its way out.

My cavalier's plugs were covered in oil and the head gasket on that is aok. Probably just carbon deposits that soak up diesel to look oily. Well that's my theory anyway

No Neal I haven't. I will have to get the book of lies out because I've never adjusted valves before.

Could be worth doing as it will affect how the valves open/close leading to improper burn.

Dodging gale force winds and horizontal rain, I managed to finish fitting a new gearbox and Torque Converter to the P38 (yes I own a Green Oval).

Previous owner was a complete cockwomble and had installed the old one incorrectly. Meant that the output shaft of the TC had crushed the oil pump and that in turn broke it down and sent lots of crud around the gearbox and TC chewing them both up. Managed to source a second hand box and TC for little money and with warranty. Had to do the entire job on my own on the driveway in gale force winds and rain. Bad weather did however cut things short. All that is left to do is fill the Transfer case and gearbox with oil and re-attach the handbrake cable to the handbrake. That is tomorrows job.

Since the trucks been struggling to start these past few mornings, I finally managed to set aside an hour to change the glow plugs. Tested the old ones as they came out, and 3 of the 4 had failed comple

Changed the oil stuff in the jeeps engine for some new oily stuff the old stuff was black but it's a diesel and tbh it didn't seem that bad at all, maybe the dealer did service it before I bought it after all

I have started modifying the front axle hangers to lower the axle, taken the half shafts out and then going to drop the diff out tomorrow ready for the new hangers. This should be fun! Then on to the rear to fit new rough country +3" shocks as my old ones were toast!

Well I am delighted that mine passed an mot today with no advisories
To be fair the guy noticed a couple of things and because he knows me he just verbally told me so I can sort it tomorrow.
Cv boot was insecure and two split pins missing from front ball joints other than that she's sorted.

I do have a running issue at the moment though but she behaved during the MOT so all is good for me roll on winter..

Replaced both upper ball joints because the old ones had a bit of play in them. ( yes they are flipped )
