Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Will Yaki need an underdrive unit, Axle ratios on a Disco are 3.54:1, 2.8 sport and Trooper 3.1 duty are 4.56:1. Running the stock Disco tranny and Tbox ratios should make it more than low enough even with 35 inch tyres. won't be a motorway flyer though, but should climb the side of a house with out to many issues. Err-in-doors might get a bit miffed with the tyre marks left on the brick work though.
I'm interested in the conversion, how you going to couple the engine and tranny together and what you doing to the rear prop due to the diff on the Fronty/trooper axle being in the centre while the disco diff is offset to the right hand side. Appreciate the disco Tbox gives full time 4x4, will the front axle cope with continual drive? Regards Stuart Remember, keep the greasy side down!
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Yaki...I have an adapter plate here that came of a 2.8 engine that goes to a v8 manual gearbox...
As for underdrive, you can never have low enough gears!!! Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Got round to replacing the filler pipe on the Explorer. Just as well really. Had to order the replacement part from the USA. Went out tonight to swap them and the old one fell off onto the floor when I tapped it with my finger.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Finally replaced knackered cam belt tensioner, cam belt and a new serpentine idler. My reward? Exhaust pooed itself again.
Germany-sourced replacement went to go on tonight and the middle box pipe to Y piece is too short. Grinder out. Welder out. Box will be fitted tomorrow night instead
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Checked and repacked the front hub bearings, greased it up and checked the levels all ready for next weekends trip to the North Yorkshire lanes. Respooled the winch rope as well but hopefully we won't be needing that.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Fitted circlips and shims to the front drive shafts so they don't slide in and out now. Also cleaned out the debrie from one of the manual locking hubs (bits of casting) while I was in there. Both manual hubs now cracked (top quality hubs from you know where) so I guess I'll be looking for some new ones.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
