WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Had the rear bumper I made for my LWB sand blasted and primered, will give it a few coats of satin black this week and then boot it on the SWB

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Fitted my front propshaft transfer box end UJ on the Mk.II. Against all adds weather wise. Got it done but was frozen to the cor and soaking wet. Weather was fine when I started. Had to finish as I was across town at a friends. Feckin' bolts transfer box end are a nightmare to get to. Just above the gearbox cross member so cannot get a spanner onto it. Heads of the bolts are so close to the UJ yoke you can only get a socket onto it using black magic.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Wound up the torsion bars to just over 2 inches & tightened up one of the front wheel bearings then went and had the tracking done. It now feels like a new car after all the work it's had this weekend

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Spent half an hour reassembling the auxillery pulley set up and serpentine belt after diagnosing knackered cam belt tensioner. I swore at it a bit. Huffed. Logged onto Rock Auto and proceded to try and suss which bits I need to fix the beast. Yesterday I dropped the engine oil and swapped it out with some 5w40 fully synthetic Gulf stuff courtesy of Opie Oils.
Went off on a tangent and searched out inlet manifold gasket, rocker cover gaskets, rear shock absorbers, etc. Probably all for the wrong car but at least I can navigate their (Rock Auto) site a bit quicker now. Naturally, if Vauxhall were reasonably priced I wouldn't have to do it but if you can buy a timing belt kit with water pump for £150 inc import duty and postage from America when it's £570+ from Vauxhall.........what can you do?!
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Freed off two sized rear calipers, fit new rear pads nd passed it's MOT.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Fixed serious oil leak, replaced cam cover gasket, front cam shaft seals, and did oil/filter change, seems to be leak free again
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Thought about removing the pile of junk out of the engine bay and dropping the 3.1 lump in.... Then made a brew and thought about it again
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Swapped the drivers door lock barrel over for the one for the car, I also fixed the drivers side rear doors central locking as it wouldn't unlock. And then repaired the boots central locking motor by replacing one of its diodes as it wouldn't lock. Now all 5 doors lock and unlock as they should

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!This arrived today from down under:
![]() So I took the old seized bonnet release cable off the Mk.I this evening before rain stopped play. I wouldn't mind but it was quicker and cheaper to buy one from Australia Eblag and have it shipped from the opposite side of the world than through the dealer ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Looked at it, considered attacking the tracking but then washed the cav. Haven't washed it since this time last year and my God had I forgotten what a metalic paint job looks like. Not bad for a 22year old ex-taxi work horse that's let's face it, has had nothing but abuse all its life. Despite all the break in damage on the doors, melted back bumper, slightly wrong coloured front wing where a taxi driver parked it in a ditch (I wasn't lieing about getting abuse all its life) it still shines up to an impressive level with nothing more than some turtle wax wash and wax and a bucket and sponge
All of which add to the sadness that it's time is probably nearly over come 15th of April when the mot man fails it on having a crack on the windscreen that's best part of a foot long ![]() ![]() My 2.8 shorty - now sold, and comments here My old dti - now sold "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!"
