WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!The clue to a busted CV is lumps of metal and ball bearings fall out when you pull back the boot....my money is on the diff though, I have only ever bust CV's after I welded diffs up, meaning the CV's are normally stronger than the diff. I have not ever had a cv fail on an open diff, and you heard the racket the cv's on the BGL made for a year up the woods, and only then did one break after running with them with a locked front end for another year.
I wouldnt even disturb the cv boots before draining the front diff, and sticking a magnetic pic up tool in the hole and checking for teeth in the bottom, thats if teeth dont come out with the oil. Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Got my new truck today....
Big thanks to.... Dwifty for looking after it for all these years for me, and then selling it to me...finally we got it down here, sadly minus Dwifty though... Stevey2stuck for going and picking it up for me and driving it down to kent... and Bobby for hanging onto Yakis stuff for me so that Stevey could collect them today on the way back in the truck... Its an iconic truck and is going to be a shame almost to prepare it for its new life... Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Gave the D2 some attention, nearly finished a full service, just rear diff oil left, fixed the reversing lights and adjusted the fuel flap so it now closes flush with the body. Gave the interior a good clean and swapped the tyres around

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Finished the fabrication of the new front adornment and got it in primer. Did a dry fit yesterday, all I can say is it looks badass.
No photos as I haven't got the patience to do the photo bucket thing. Regards Stuart Remember, keep the greasy side down!
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Yesterday I gave it a mini service of oil, filter, plugs etc and discovered that the bonnet catch had disintegrated.
Today replaced the front spot light that had also fallen apart. Removed the center box from the exhaust system as it was now more holes than metal to find that the mounts where shot as well. Called the local motor factors and no one seems to hold stock. ![]()

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Dan, you'll have to wait until May at the annual. Hopefully it'll be fitted together with the electrical bits in time for Wales.
We've rented the static van direct from Chris the site owner so our names (Pete and me and the motley crew) are not on the list. Regards Stuart Remember, keep the greasy side down!
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!As It was pointless taking the front diff until I can source a new one. I sorted out the leaking sunroof on the silver swb by replacing it with one out of the pickup. As I had the roof lining out i noticed it looked a bit tatty. So I PIMPED it by covering it with black material.
