Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!The O/S indicators were not working on the Sport, turns out the indicator stalk was faulty so nicked the one off my LWB to sort it out.
While the steering wheel was off I took the opportunity to fit the leather one off the LWB onto the Sport Fitted my CD player to the Sport, as much as I love the sound of the 2.8 I do need some music as well WARNING: Manny, don't read this next bit Removed the drivers side Corbeau bucket seat from the Sport and fitted my MR2 seat out of the LWB, will do passengers tomorrow Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I attempted to Dremmel out the remains of a broken exhaust manifold stud after the previous owner had tried to drill it out and made a pigs ear of it. Mangaged to get most of the steel out of the hole so just need to make a jig to keep an m10 tap on centre. I have already made an m10 to m8 adapter stud which i will loctite into the head once i am done. Sadly i can't get a drill in to clear out the last bits so i will have to rely on the tap doing it for me.
If that fails I have a plan b but fingers crossed i will no need to do that. Michael
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Took it for its retest and all was good until he called me up to say that the bolts for the rear body mounts has "come loose" as it happens glueing the bolts back into place so it looks alright isn't good enough for the mot tester to swing off of lol. So I'll have to cut a access hole to get the broken bit out and put a proper actual bolt in it. Doh!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Why didn't you just weld the bolts, he would have been none the wiser then? Would have been better than pritstik or whatever you glued them with lol

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!It's the outermost rear body mount bolts and they sheared off almost flush with the bottom of the body, no space to get get a welder in there and I used the only thing I could find, some silicone sealant, worked interms of it looking like it's meant to but wasn't strong enough for him to have a swing on it lol

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Managed to sort out the broken stud remains on the exhaust side of the head. Used my jig to force an m10 tap down the centre of the opened out hole I dremmeled yesterday. Then I was able to screw in the m10 to m8 stud that I made. So once the gaskets arrive the manifold can bE secured properly. I might even be able to drive my new car soon once the exhaust system Arrives then I can see what all this frontera fuss is about
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well technically not today but here are the photos of the exhaust stud repair I did. I used the jig to force the M10 tap down the middile of the opened out abortion of a hole left by the previous owner. Then I just screwed in the M10 to M8 adapter stud that I made. Job done.

I will take some pics of that tomorrow after work and report back if I have managed to bypass the problem.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Good idea there using the angle to get a good line up for the tap.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!It's a solid bar so even more rigid. I did plan to use it to guide a drill bit but there was just no access even for the 90 degree attachment I have. I did not fancy removing the head just to plunge a milling cutter into the hole to true it up. I just want to drive the bloody thing. At least I can tax it now. Well Monday after work.
I hope the manifold gaskets will arrive tomorrow so after work I can at least fit the manifold and the repaired cat section. I can fit the cooling fan switch and then more waiting for the exhaust system to arrive. So maybe my first drive of my 'new' car will be wednesday, ish.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Excellent write up mate, that needs putting in the How To Section. I had to do it the hard way on the wifes truck and take the bloody head off.
