WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Do they take vehicles with tyres on Bobby ?
We have to remove before entering the site down our way. Today I fitted some of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261172352559? ... 1439.l2649 to the rear of my truck for reversing lights, my original reversing lights have been changed to indicators due to rear bumper being removed. Will try and add some pics tomorrow.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Yes mate they do but i wanted the alloys for me new tyres!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well today I made the mounting bracket for the gearbox hoist. Which is going to make it easier to lower & lift the gearbox back in when we fit the new clutch next weekend.
( once it has the weight of the gearbox it will level out) ![]() ![]() ![]() i hate having Dyslexia
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I like the idea Andy, but you might find a small lifting beam like below a bit more flexible esp if matched to the electric winch you have there instead of the hand jobby I used as it will still allow you to open the doors, no risk of mullering the window seals and if outside you can still secure the car if you don't finish the job in time (or it rains...)

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I got the bits from B&Q, material wise (steel) IIRC no more than 20 quid, the bolts I already had along with some nylock nuts.
Length wise, it ran from the dash to just behind the rear seats, height wise as seen. Two sets of legs, one each end as seen. For the legs I bought 2 lengths of steel box section (1.5mtr lengths IIRC) then cut them in half to get 4 equal lengths. For the beam I bought a 1 mtr length of rectangular box section (I would use the biggest section that they do) Taking all the legs together I stuck them all into a vice (about 80mm in the vice) with them sticking up and pulled them back gently to get the bend in them by doing it this way you can easily make sure that the bend is equal on all legs. Then, two legs at a time and the beam I lined it all up in the vice and drilled thru for the bolts to hold it all together. Just a case then of bolting it all up and doing the gearbox. How would I improve it??? A Stronger beam for a start hence why I said use the biggest in cross section that B&Q do, I originally didnt and used the next one down, it worked great but would have worked better with the bigger on. Another thing I would do is put tubes through where the bolts go just to improve things and make it more durable to put up and take down without getting over confident and crushing it when the nuts and bolts get done up to much. A bit of bracing on the legs wouldnt go a miss either for longevity although I managed to do the clutch on Truck okay without it. I would offer to put it in the post to you, but it got 'chopped' up to make the light bar currently sat on Truck!!! This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well today I made a start on the mot list. I sorted out the offside front body mount, made a start on the offside center body mount rust hole just behind the front seat. And I fitted the missing rear body mounts pucks.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Started making a list of things needing done to the Fronty I bought on Friday..
12 issues so far, 5-6 kinda urgent and serious so I think todays job will be working out why the rear brakes are binding and how far gone the bearing and droplink is gone at the front. Joys 2.5 TDS SanDiego
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Tried to fix my Cherokee 2.5TD, it feels like it has kangaroo petrol (even though its a diesel), new fuel filter and flushed out the tank, checked over all engine loom connectors, cleaned with contact cleaner and reassembled, opened up the ECU and that was dry inside, cleaned MAF sensor contacts, checked for wet air filter etc etc and still no improvement
Stripped some more parts off the 2.8 and met a very nice lad from Cardiff who came to pickup some bits to fix his 2.5TDS after denting the front against some traffic lights Last edited by yaki on Tue Feb 18, 2014 12:34 am, edited 1 time in total.
Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Found out why my 4 wheel drive wasn't working, broken CV joint,
So I could only replace the trak rod arms with my new HD custom made 1s and new bottom ball joints on the drivers side ( also flipped the top ball joint whilst it was all in bits) Not much point in doing the passenger side only to have to strip it again to do the CV joint.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Not today but the weekend. Swapped the interior from the 3.2 to the 2.2, now has full heated leather. Fitted my Bury bluetooth kit and my stereo and my sub! Dropped coolant, was going to change cambelt and water pump but the light was beggining to fade so we just inspected the belt with looked fine for now and changed the thermostat, filled it back up with fresh coolant and with some telephone assistance from Vauxsqueeks got it bled and found the temp sendor and made sure the fans were firing up.
