Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Started mine up after a week and a half, as always started 1st time then took it for a spin on Salisbury plain
I would prefer a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Changed the steering idler on it. Fairly easy job...except that the bolts hadn't been touched for 16 years so they put up a fight
In the new year I'll be changing over the steering box as its p1ssing fluid out. Then just the handbrake and it should be ready for the MOT. Getting straingly used to not having a handbrake lol. ![]() My 2.8 shorty - now sold, and comments here My old dti - now sold "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!" Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Did some Vac pipe work...
Before: ![]() After: ![]() Pipes left to do - 4x4 actuator pipes, pipes underneath the grey/light blue bits on the top right, (need to remove the bracket to get better access) oh, and the joyful little tight one behind the engine itself! (Might ask the garage to do it Wednesday, as it's having the injector seals done) I do have some questions though, should I be replacing all the stiff tubing (Black/White/Brown) with the silicone hose, or is the stiff tubing ok to leave? Also, underneath the grey/light blue bits in the top right of the engine bay there are some metal tubes that go under the engine, I assume these lead to the 4x4 bits? Would replacing the Vac Pipes give me better bottom end on the engine? I think it may be placebo, but it seems a little less anemic before the turbo kicks in now.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!For a Fronty that engine bay is far, far to clean Paul... It needs mud, oil splatter and an old oily rag for a dip stick wipe
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Looked in the back of the SWB and decided that if I could gather all of the loose straw and hay off the carpets, seats and roof lining I could probably make a full bale
Considered brushing it out , but then decided having a kip in front of the telly was much better use of my time.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Touch wood sorted the side and main beam lights out. Seems that I had shortened out the near side side light bulb holder going through deep puddles playing silly buggers giving my grand-daughter and her mate a good giggle. Changed the bulb holder and renewed the 10amp fuses and all seems good.
Main beam was down to another 10amp fuse, being replaced - pinched the original when trying to sort out the side lights first time around. Found it alot easier to loosen the headlights - only 2 bolts for each side. Had a go out at fitting the missing plastic clips but couldn't get them to seat in properly. Might have to revisit after I've seen how the headlight alignment is now positioned with the new clips. All this after I had done the twin roof seal relubing on the Focus CC.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!On an A series it is always the nearside that screws up...no technical reason, its just sods law as its the most awkward to get to...
Offside is easy, airbox comes out in seconds...nearside means battery out and still the washer bottle gets in the way, and the damn bolts always snap when you try and remove that! You didnt disconnect that battery on the Focus did you Pete...you know you are banned from doing that! Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!
