Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Truck:
Nothing. It works. O-no: 1. Bled the brakes (stuff that came out looked more like water/coolant/brake fluid mix than brake fluid), their not bad, still a bit squishy so I will change the hoses, got a set in the shed. 2. Checked the bottom ball joints, both sides the rubbers have split. Local factors had one in stock and the other is on order for the 27th so that's boxing day sorted, do 1, prep the other and fit on the 27th. 3. Fixed poor connection in N/S Front Indicator. 4. Replaced the broken Aerial, using the spare out of the shed. 5. Fixed the central locking on the tail gate. Three squirts of WD40 did for that one. Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well...
The day started off with rain, oh brilliant one thought... And heres me planning on doing the bottom ball joints on O-no. Managed to get the wheel nuts and auto locker nuts loose and started to jack it up. That went well until the jack got all jack like and stopped lifting (lack of oil it seems) so that involved a quick trip out for some Hyd oil. Got some eventually (co-op do not sell it, don't know why, they should). Once filled the truck was quickly jacked up and on it's axle stands. Next job, wheel off. Auto locker off (no need to clean the grease off I now know why the truck has, in previous ownership been carrying split bottom ball joint covers for the last 3 MoT's as an advisery... N/S (not even looked at the other one yet) Once the split pin had come out I had the 2' breaker bar on it and the nut was having none of it. Breaker bar + 3' of scaffold pole... Nothing, fast running out of extensions to the bar I tried an old MG Midget axle case I had kicking around in the shed as it was empty it served as a breaker bar extention well and the nut was finally loose after some sever leaning and pulling... Proper banana shape in the bar there was before the nut gave and came loose. Next fun item is going to be getting the thing split off the arm... So looking forward to that, not. Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Truck:
Started it, drove it, parked it. O-no: N/S Lower Ball Joint finally done. Killed a new ball joint splitter while doing it (it broke in half), then attacked it with the old joint splitter, lump hammer wouldnt touch it, but the sledge hammer got it in the end... Funny old thing, it went back together much easier! Also adjusted the front N/S wheel bearing while the auto-locker was off. Now just got to change the O/S Lower Ball Joint, clean up the chassie a bit (surface rust stuff and the odd field), bit of welding and it's in for the MoT. Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Spent three hours trying to bleed the fuel system on my 2.2, after replacing all leak off and vacuum pipes
The Laser tool sucks! or not! Will try some extra diesel today, as the fuel gauge lies to me, and I may not have sufficient in the tank. Big Blue Ornament sitting in the barn, and going nowhere......
