Sorted the handbrake, it now stands still when the handbrake is on rather than just roll across the carpark at work...

Wrapped half a roll of that tape stuff round the top induction hose, much better and the boost gauge seems to be steadier too. The hose no longer expands when under load.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Today we changed the the head gasket on the little blue SWB.
And now she runs sweet just need to fit the fan belts and alternator.

Failed to put the rad cap on properly so when it got hot it blew off. Luckily the RAC man came along a few minutes later and topped it up again. Top man. Not the best thing to do in a B Series. :oh yer:

dun top ball joint and then went to grease and tighten wheel bearing up abit only to notice it rusty so fitted new wheel bearing ,grease and re silicone the case so checked other side and need to order another top ball joint then do the bearin

Didn't notice the diesel spill until it was too late going round a roundabout. Spent the second half of it going round it using the front passenger window as a windscreen. Lotus suspension, delicate throttle and steering control, and I drifted of at the junction I needed. Straightened up and carried on my way. Have to admit I was glad that I had a sh1t this morning as I probably would of soiled my trousers. It's ok if you know you are going to step out. Different matter when unexpected and surrounded by other traffic.

well i lifted the bonnet up re filled power steering for the 3rd time today gave it a loving pat utted the words ill sort it 1 day and closed the lid :lol: really need to sort it out soon i think diffs are dryer than a pair of nuns knickers, power steering spits it guts out looks like i have a dead badger stuck under the car every time i park up, no speedo, drops enough oil at lights to make any biker behind me to fill his pants and it coughs enough smoke out to kill any small birds or rabbits passing bye :lol:... but it just keeps going i love my truck :mrgreen:

My new (to me) starter motor arrived today....came off a trooper 3.1 that was getting broken up near hull I think it was....£50 got it to my door this morning (8:30am :shock: ), and this afternoon I fitted it, reconnected the battery that happened to be in the battery tray....and it started up...then stalled, then started up again, gave it a quick blip of the loud pedal and with a ear piercing squeal from one of the belts every thing came to life, battery gauge slowly made its way to the 3/4 mark, oil gauge shot upto 3/4. Not bad to say its been sat for over a week :) - but I wouldnt expect anything less of a 2.8 :)

And out of the starter motor episode I gained 2 new (to me) batterys from work...a bosh 760 CCA and a unbranded 550 CCA battery that only came out of a customers car because the battery light was on, on the dash...I told her it was the alternator, but she wanted a new battery anyways.....some people have more money than sence....but hay....Im not complaining lol

The guy who striped down the old starter (guy at work) said he hasnt seen a starter in such a bad state :twisted: , apparently the rear bearing was just mush - would explain why it didnt do anything when you sent power thru it, and when he replaced the bearing with one he had laying around he said it spin, but had sod all power so the windings must of gotten burnt out trying to turn over with no rear bearing lol so I told him to bin it :)

Oh and a few days again I found out that it stands a good chance of having a private plate on it :) .... a few clues, its missing a number, ie it have the letter at the start, then it has just 2 numbers not the normal 3 and then 3 letters....Adrain flux didnt know what the car was when I changed the cars over either...then the deal braker....a customer came in wanting some new plates for there car....as it happens theres was only 1 number and 1 letter away from mine....asked them how much they paid for it.....£300 :) score!...not sure what p43 jnn is ment to spell...but oh well....its a private plate and thats all that matters lol :twisted:

As fudge says, check with DVLA, but 2 number old style reg's are not necessarily a cherished mark.
My old Cav had one like it, but that was just how it was.

Prefix reg's have the initial letter showing age of the car, the last two letters of the three show which DVLA office handled the registration (if you know the codes you can work it out yourself) and the remaining letter and numbers are technically random.
DVLA don't issue all 999 numbers for a given three letter ending, and the ones they keep are mostly one and two digit plates, but some three digit ones are withheld and some twos make it out.
I've personally had F90 xxx and L57 xxx on two of my cars, just luck of the draw.

Ive worked at dealerships for a good few years and ive done countless pdi inspections and regestered the vehicles with plates and as the numbers all follow on, strangely they also all begin at 1. Any plate can be a cherished reg aslong as it means something to someone, i myself have owned a good few and still have 4 now, they never fall in value so your not guna lose on one unless your really unlucky! Your reg could be worth something to someone if their initials are JNN. The easiest way to find out it to log on to CHERISHED REGISTRATIONS or similar and enter your reg, if its worth anything they will give you a quote or offer to buy/sell it. Easiest way to find out.
