Oh, also got the timing belt on me truck changed, bringing it back to life. Now smoother running and more power, much like fudge.. apparently... Don't confuse your books:

I treated in to new set of boots, 265/75R16 Malatesta Kobra NT's. Only remolds, but certainly better than the mismatched near racing slicks that were on before

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Finally started it up - it's been in bits since last April - turbo, howbeit changed one as been on and off 3 times and loosened off again a 4th time. Exhaust manifold as been off 2 times but at least the broken stud is out of harms way.
Last weekends drama was getting the two 10mm bolts to locate properly on the oil feed/return pipe under the turbo - finally sorted that on Monday evening. Thought I'd flush the coolant system before putting new anti-freeze in. Good job I did, because the turbo water feed banjo was leaking - the lower down right bitch to get at one. Sorted that out last night and leak cured (new copper washers). Charged and refitted the battery, first turn of the key and she jump straight into life only to reveal that the bottom oil banjo is leaking, so got an oil leak to sort out tomorrow. Going to fit the aussie locker in the spare front diff and change that before refitting the steering connecting arm etc. then hopefully we'll be up and running again Not bad because we're into August and I reckon I've had the truck running for one whole month this year - what's that £100 worth of road tax down the swannie
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Its coming together well though

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Shall we say the learning curve as got a long radius Ste - made some serious mistakes that have cost alot of time.
Firstly, I should never had disturbed the exhaust manifold - deffo got that wrong in thinking it would make life easier with refitting the new turbo. Should have fitted new copper washers to start with. Should never had touched the bottom turbo oil feed pipe banjo - that's the one I originally snapped and took an age to find a replacement 8mm banjo. Think the steering could be interesting - with the steering column removed, the steering wheel can be spun indefinately. I've now got the replacement steering box on and all connected up to the column. Topped up with power steering fluid and as seems to be holding with no sign of leaks. Still to do is connecting the steering connecting arm, drop arms and track rod ends. I thought that with the steering box connected up, it would restrict the steering wheel to the limited number of revolutions - not so, the steering wheel can still appear to be able to turn indefinately. Whilst sorting out the power steering fluid top up, I noticed the steering wheel kept turning in the same direction which as done my logic because I thought the steering box would restrict it.
