Frontie REPAIRS- - - next week 16-22/7/12

Postby andybid on Fri Jul 13, 2012 12:05 am

Hello and welcome to the kluts way of repairing!!

INTRO...

After a few mishaps I have a few things to do to get my frontie in order, and drivable again!!

STRIP FUEL PUMP/SENdER UNIT FROM SCRAPYARd VEHICLE
INSTALL FUEL PUMP/SENdER UNIT (tank already out and waiting)-PUT ALL BACK TOGETHER AGAIN :?
INSTALL BRAKE PAdS ALL ROUNd ANd CHECK dISCS (were scraping  )
LEARN HOW TO BLEEd BRAKES SO THEY ARE SAFE!!
REPAIR O/S/F WING OR REPLACE. (pushed back and dented by a tree  )
REPAIR REAR, ( :wtf: rolled back into wall, n/s/r bumper gone, bumper supports pushed in, boot base warped and to top it, cant open rear door cos of all the mess- mainly warped boot i think!!

    REAR DOOR/BOOT REPAIR THREAD...CLICK HERE!!!
    )

**(There u go Drift!! :D )**

Now, I am not a mechanic, in fact all I have ever done is change spark plugs and pads on another vehicle. I am quite a good worker-out though so fingers crossed.

I have however, roped my neighbour into helping me, actually he is a bit of a star and offered as he loves working on vehicles so much! He's got a Golf 4 motion himself, He rebuilt it from a write off (front end, was not too bad really). So all thanks to his generosity....few beers me thinks if does a good job

I have listed the jobs above in order that I will attack it as I think that is the priority order.

I will keep you informed of how it goes. As I say I never done anything like this so it is all new to me so it would be good to have a record of it all anyway. I will get some photos up as well as soon as I can.

I do not know if this is the right forum to detail the work and keep you informed or if I should post elsewhere.
Please let me know.
Finally, Would it be best to run one long topic for all the jobs or should I detail the seperate jobs in seperate topics!!! Please let me know.

As I say I shall start next week and see how goes. I may get to the bodywork stage and be fed up by then but will perservere at some point!!!!!

And I Know

:ttiwwp:

Wish me luck

But for now, before I start.... :drink: ....Cheers :!:

Good luck matey, you won't be the only one waving spanners at a Fronty, tis all part of the fun owning the things....
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck.

Comments on 'O-no' the truck may be left here

Hi Andy, as a techi forum we dont encourage a "one thread cures all" policy as all the data is saved and searchable for others to use.

Posting

Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Users consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning (see policing below).

See Forum Rules for clarification viewtopic.php?f=1&t=47098

These questions

STRIP FUEL PUMP/SENdER UNIT FROM SCRAPYARd VEHICLE

INSTALL FUEL PUMP/SENdER UNIT (tank already out and waiting)-PUT ALL BACK TOGETHER AGAIN

And separate thread

REPAIR REAR, ( :wtf: rolled back into wall, n/s/r bumper gone, bumper supports pushed in, boot base warped and to top it, cant open rear door cos of all the mess- mainly warped boot i think!! )

REPAIR O/S/F WING OR REPLACE. (pushed back and dented by a tree  )

in this section
viewforum.php?f=8

And in its own thread

INSTALL BRAKE PAdS ALL ROUNd ANd CHECK dISCS (were scraping  )

LEARN HOW TO BLEEd BRAKES SO THEY ARE SAFE!!

In this section
viewforum.php?f=23

As most of the topics are covered within the areas, but if the questions are posted in the relevant areas it helps others and the topic is easily searchable for future reference.

I8 hope you under stand as posting in the wrong sections does not do any favours for a techi forum and cause the team more work.

Thanks.

I was inittially not sure if the tech support forum was right as i will be telling my story of how it goes, and as someone who never worked on cars before thought be worth a giggle.

So yea, will put in the right place. i read the rules, was just not sure........so general iscussion....general question.... :)
