WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well, I have been soaked all afternoon, but got another wobbly head lamp sorted and the new handbrake shoes fitted, one bugger was a very seized adjuster but a good soak (like me
) and a bit of force sorted it. So now got good handbrakes I repacked the bearings this morning before the MOT as usual. Only the steering idler to fit when that arrives and the retest Saturday Ste

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!3.1 engine swap finally finished
Pump timing sorted (well pretty close anyways), front of the engine back together, injector pipes on, couple of water leaks sorted out and off for a test drive. Huge improvement over my 2.8 (admittedly it was getting a little tired), boost kicks in really early and its hitting max boost at a tad over 2000rpm, pulls like a train Will be hanging on to the 2.8 engine for now, not sure whether to rebuild the 2.8 and eventually put it back in or stick with the 3.1 and get another 3.1 to rebuild Was reading through the factory manual and it turns out the crank is nitrided and cannot be reground as undersize bearings are not available Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one
What you didn't do to your truck today!Hi all
This is just a bit of a "Grrrr" at the way that the Fronty is built, unlike some vehicles which seem to be thrown together. I thought I'd update things a bit with an electric blue dashboard lights mod. Read everything I could on this forum about removing the instrument cluster, then I got the "pains" manual out to find out about the other silly little lights like in the heater control panel, the cigarette lighter and the one above the ashtray, and after reading about that I can't decide which would be easier ... pull everything out of the interior or just remove the bodywork! Ho, hum ... discretion being the better part of sanity, I think I'll leave it until blown bulbs force me into taking action. Regards, Brian If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is.
Any similarity between prototype and production equipment is purely coincidental.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!HI,
"GodZilla" Frontera got a little clean-up inside and some final work according the electricity. Then I did change the cross-joint-articulation... No, not at the Frontera's drive shaft! Backup car "Jaques" (Fiesta GFJ 'Calypso' 1992) had a failure of this steering element so it was hardly to drive. Now it's fine again ![]() Kind regards,
Ian Sorry for my pigeonenglish. ![]() My doctor says I have to invest time in SPORT
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Not sure how or why but the truck seems to be silky smooth on the road today. Only gave the engine bay a quick blast with a jet wash. Only things that seem wrong atm are the whiny rear axle and a squeaky rear seat back both of which are more annoying than anything... but seems a good excuse to turn the tunes up

Well , I pulled out both rear half shafts and the LSD ![]() ![]() ![]() I then removed the cross members, gearsticks, gaitors, props and rad and started removing all the gearbox bolts to fit the new clutch. Not fun when it's hissing down with rain. I stopped when the water started sloshing round my meat n two veg.
