Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Since sunday I have owned 2 frontera Bs 1 of them being my main black dti....and the other being Bobbins Angelina, almost dti lol. I think, just because its in such good condition physicly Im going to try and keep her....maybe put a 2.8 or 3.1 in her (hopfully with a tweeked fuel pump and a little more boost)
I did think about putting the 1.7 TD out of my K reg chavalier in her as it runs ok....ish, and I already own it lol, but I dont think it'l have enough grunt to get 1.7 tons of truck up many hills, epesh as its done about 225k miles, most of them around town (it was a taxi for the 1st 7 years of its life), but it does have a mecanical fuel pump, isuzu block and f@k all electronics on it ![]() My 2.8 shorty - now sold, and comments here My old dti - now sold "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!" Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Go 3.1 ... more than enough grunt and cheaper than trying to get hold of a 2.8. You can tweak them as well meaning more torque and power. Would be easy to set up the vacuum operated SOTF as well.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!If you want a hand then shout.
If you want to go the 3.1 4JG2 route then make sure you avoid Bighorn/import post 1995 automatic gearbox one. They have an electronic fuel pump. All the others have the mechanical pump found on the 2.8. Much much easier to work on. My favourite tactic would be a complete donor vehicle (read MOT failure) and you can sell the rest as spares. In fact a post 1995 manual gearbox version would have all the SOTF gubbins on the transfer case and you can do a engine+gearbox swap. Much easier than making a conversion plate betwen the DTi gearbox and Trooper engine. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Spent an hour lying in a 3inch deep pool of rusty oily water removing the rear sump pan off a Fronty at the scrappy. Started off not to bad, but the the heavens opened and rivers of water gushing around my dangly bits , but I carried on. Just got home, had to wring the water out of my boxers before I could put them in the wash basket
All that for £10 diff pan. On the plus side it's like brand new

The car is running like a dream and I think my 2stroke experiment is definitely paying off in smoothness of ride, I want to say it feels faster but that could be placebo effect but it is deffo smoother and fuel use has gone down on a rough score 5% but its the good of the pump that counts as the fuel cost is offset at 4 or £5 a litre of 2stroke. Anyway, just got through the second tank and Ive bought another litre Ste
