Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!well yesterday..took my mate (paj owner, but former owner of my fronty) on a little road trip..
down to Bobby's to borrow his engine hoist..then bit further down the M6 to remove Syms engine..then back to liverpool..but nearing home we very nearly ran out of oil..very noisy bottom (sounded like an empty pot, if you know what i mean)..so pulled into the services (was needed after sitting in a jam for over an hour round the stoke area) and had a good look over..yep low oil..topped back up with 2ltrs of asdas finest (every penny counts..plus why spend extra when you know the motor is just going to chuck it back out again)..got home safe and sound..just a little low on fuel so today... stripped nearly everything of Syms old motor..strangely it seems to have a compleatly different sump than mine (both are X20se engines)..mine more rounded and the one from Syms is a little angular and appears abit deeper, plus there are a few odd brace bars attached at the sump than on my engine.. anyways..just got to drain the mayo, deffo head gone..remove head, sump and then oil pump..then i'll find out if i've got a useable crank (mine is cream crackered)..if not then i'll have some spare bits and bobs.. many thanks to bobby, syms and to my mate fat john the delta cabbie (who had just got up from a late) for all your help and efforts for yesterday.. The greatest lesson in life is to know that even us idiots are right sometimes

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Did some ROLLING with the 2.8lwb in the woods!
No, didnt stack it onto its roof, but, as before, used its stupidly wide tyres to flatten out the clearing and ruts on the bottom track... Where the mud was so liquid and squelchy it forms ruts and peaks about a foot high, so I did what I have done before when we had a couple of dry days in between and drove everything flat with the truck...looks nice and flat again now, and will dry that way sooner than everyone falling over that trys to walk through there... Did a thorough litter sweep through the clearing etc, and as always was chuffed to bits that the people who visited looked after the place and used the bins/fire or took their rubbish home...Many thanks...only a few bits found, most of it ancient and a few bits I took out of fire. We always do a follow up visit the day after we leave, just to make sure everything is left right...we want the lack of any rubbish to be obvious in its absence if you get my thinking... Had a good chat with the landowner and his misses, and confirmed that it looks like we are needed for another "wedding experience" next September...this should be fun again like last time, and we are invited to the p1ss up too, so camping might be a good plan! Then went up the workshop and pulled the 2.4i out and washed it...and put the 2.0i sport leafer in there for an appraisal...It has indeed low oil pressure, checked the pressure valve on the pump and not sticking...so looks like pump is goosed...engine runs ok though, no nasty noises so should be good other than the pump. Undecided as to its fate yet, but i reckon its destined for a breaker, unless someone wants a plaything for up the woods that I will store at the workshop. Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!
click here for the SE Events Index/links Thread...see all the reviews and whats coming up soon! Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again... She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body... Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer! MAKE IT or BREAK IT! TEAMXTREME4X4 ![]()
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Today I changed the battery again
Then cleaned and sorted the boot drawers, amazing how much crud and bits of car where in there, also found my bag of relays Then finally fitted the fire extinguisher into the boot, then brushed up the front garden as the demented dog dug another hole and spread soil over the path when I wasnt looking Ste

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Drove it half way up Whitestones to see what condition the lane was in since I last went. Last time it was virtually impassable as the rain had eroded away one side of the lane and you would have rolled. Some kind soul has filled it in a little so thats OK, but the farmer has been busy dumping rocks in the lane. I would have moved them today , but it was deffo a two man job and wasn't gonna knacker my hernia up again
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Oh, and I also took my eldest for her first ever driving lesson (she's just turned 16) . As I obviously can't take her on the roads ( legally) I had to take her on the tracks through the woods which included huge water puddles and some nice articulation area's (for a newbie at least) and she did really well. Never got above 25mph which suited my heart rate and hers
Here she is trying to concentrate as we all rip the p*** out of her ![]()
