Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!i intend to go outside and sort my auto hub again find out what the weird vibration was if i can find it on sport had it wnen stationary so must be fan or some something on a belt as it was seprate from the engine if that makes sense.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!i had a vibration after a bit of laning..turned out that i had lost a small clip off of one of the fan blades, must be some sort of balancer...just ignored it..
back to topic... put more rubbish in a bag and put it in the back..couldn't be ar$ed to take it the 20yards to the bin... The greatest lesson in life is to know that even us idiots are right sometimes

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!started rebuilding the head after full strip down and clean. am thinking of blanking the egr in the head rather than using a coke can gasket
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Had the air con checked, leak on a high pressure pipe and a leak on the condenser (radiator). Cost of condenser and pipe £130 plus fitting, testing and regassing another £160. Decided to bin it as I don't use the motor enough to warrant the expense. Have now removed the condenser which was situated in front of the rad which will benefit the engine cooling. My question now is, how do the fans work, ie when does the second one kick in and could I install an override switch to it.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!yes you can fit an override the second fan will probably be linked to ac system wiring or you may be on a two stage switch ie 85c first fan on second fan on at 95c
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I did some more cylinder head work. Looking a lot cleaner now.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!The sport cut out on the missus, so towed it back with a 1.3 diesel astra.
Poked around and found the ht lead fell out!! Thought it was going to be major. Went to tesco, came straight back as the back tyre was going down. Was totally flat about 10 mins after we got back. So on the drive I've a clio to be scrapped. LWB frontera with 1 flat tyre and no mot, SWB frontera with 1 flat tyre and a pug307 about to get a new clutch this week(also has 1 flat tyre).

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!This is more of a case of what I will do today:
Bimble off to get tyres fitted. Go to Halfords for Turtle Wax cleaning pack (with free cinema tickets for Transformers 3 (Dad and lad time later)) See if my access code to the workshop still works after 2 months of not using it - if successful: Fit exhaust (and pray I can bodge it onto the CAT otherwise its a new CAT) Fit HT leads and plugs Sump gasket change Oil and filter change MOT Monday or Tuedsay. Wish me luck. If it bleeds, I can kill it.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Welded up Jim (wilberforces) front diff last night...and what a helluva challenge
First had to extract 2 bucket fulls of mud from the bullbar/bumper/bashpate/steering area, as otherwise it kept throwing mud down my back... Got in there and plasma'ed open the diff casing to find the most buggered diff I have seen to date... Of the 4 planatery gears, only 3 were there (the other one was smashed to pieces in the bottom of the diff)... and of the 3 remaining, one had no teeth at all, and the other 2 had a fair few teeth missing. Managed to weld it all together, more into the carrier than each other...took ages to get right, burnt my hand and swore lots.. Fingers crossed it will hold for a while, the rear should help it as its locked up already... This should be proper unstoppable now with locked front and rear and special traks!
