WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Started it up (fired on 2nd turn of the key after 2 weeks parked up) and went for a drive round the block to warm up the fluids.
Went to check out a possible urban location for a photo shoot - was put off by it being staked out by a police patrol car and a burnt out moped. I've got a great idea for a Fronty Foto, but just need to find a location. At least the Sport seems to be working ok (touch wood) Lawrence

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well this last week has been quite a trauma for the fronty.
On Tuesday i finally found my fuel leak back problem the metal pipes up near the tank had been rubbing on the chassis and developed a nice hole, in truth the car should not have run never mind last till 2 weeks ago when i broke down On Thursday the glass bottom on the new filter assembly broke, i probably did it up too tight Today has seen the removal of the side steps and the rear o/s arch trim this morning in preperation for my brother to weld some patches to the sills and arch this afternoon. Sills were as expected but after a few minuets on the arch i had lost half of it, to rotten to patch Next task before the end of the month is to get it through its MOT and re-tax it
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Fitted new front brake calipers
Repaired drivers side interior light switch(has been broken ever since I bought the truck) Sealed the windscreen where the water was getting in Stripped out the sound proofing and dried it and the carpet out(found £3.50 so all in all not a bad days work Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I have to admit, I didn't do very much myself.
Huggy came over and sorted out one of my front bearings and replaced the propshaft Jurid coupling. That seemed to cure the rumbling noise I was getting. We both got soaked but, it was worth it. What a guy Top Bloke! Well, now I know how the hub and bearing come apart, I can have a go at the other side in the morning myself! (All part of the learning curve, I guess) Then it's just a case of new brake pads and replace the suspension bushes. ![]() Noli Illegitimi Carborundum
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Started the pick-up conversion on Chugga. Removed the rear seats, rear section of carpet, and most of the bolts for the roll bar (the rest are siezed so sprayed with WD40 and will tackle again tomorrow)...then it started raining. Bloody British weather.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Nipped up the bearing and put new brake pads in the offside front.
Went to fit new pads in the nearside front but, top pin on the caliper is sheared in half. Swore a lot!! Will be picking up a second hand caliper in the morning and fitting it along with new pads (can't afford a new one). Bushes will probably have to wait until after the MOT (just hope they are only an advisory again). As long as I can get the brakes working again, I stand a fair chance of getting it through the dreaded MOT. Noli Illegitimi Carborundum

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Pottered about with the snorkel stuff again today.
Air box modded and fibreglassed. ![]() ![]() ![]() Cut the oval inlet off and blanked it off with the fibreglass. The top section of the air filter housing has an opening for the Secondary Air Injection system (only found on early 2.2i's and removable) so thats capped as well. Then a quick coat of satin black to roughly hide the fibreglass. ![]() Items roughly in position. ![]() ![]() Im still waiting on a 45 degree stainless tube and the lying gits told me the ID of the snorkel top was 70mm. Well its not, its 76.3 so Im going to have to use some self amalgamating tape to make up the 3.15mm. No biggy but it would have been nice to have everything fit straight out of the box. Reminder to self, pick up a roll of stainless MIG wire.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Just been out to buy engine and diff oil, air and fuel filters (oil filter on order as none in stock) and coolant ready for service on Sunday. Good old Robbie's coming down to give Beasty a good old service. Grand total £92.95, and I still have to pay for the oil filter.....
Still...will keep the old goat running for a while. EDIT...Then on the way home, I adjusted the tyre pressures. The fronts were a bit high, so dropped them to about 28psi (front doesn't seem to skip over bumps now) and the rears were low, so now have about 32psi. Feels much better on the road now. Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Ive just finished cleaning the carpet in the fronty & put the rear seats back in,then I siliconed (white) the rubber above the windscreen, then cleaned the rubber on the sunroof with soapy water and an old toothbrush and hopefully this may stop it from leaking.
