Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!went through a ford last night and a bit of 4x4ing in a mates dads woods (part of his dads farm) with vitra as well as fronty .
mmm fronty (2.8 tdi) with no snorkel and hardly any mods don't like water lapping over the bonnet, after the ford had to take the soaked air filter out (it was a lot deeper than it looked) drove it for 20-25 mile all was fine, went to mcdonalds and would the bloody fronty start again, got it started after a lot of cranking left it idling for an hour and it is fine now, (mental note never go through a ford in a frontera again without a snorkel,) vitra in the forest was great, the bloody thing just kept going and going, a lwb frontera was a bit to big for the tight turns and steep hills and decents, shame cause in the vitra it was a nice little course through my mates dads woods Last edited by lurchy666 on Thu Feb 10, 2011 9:04 pm, edited 1 time in total.
2.3 td lwb died in spectacular style when all liquids in engine bay ended up in the sump....
2.8 tdi lwb sold her and still regret it as she was one hell of a truck just brought 2.5 tds lwb

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!The wet dog smell in my car was starting to drive me nuts, so I unbolted the carpet from the boot and back of the seats, pressure washed it , vacuumed off excess water and hung it up to dry. Had a niff earlier and it seems much better

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Changed the N/S lower balljoint and cured the infernal squeak. Cut my finger to the bone whilst applying copper slip in the ball joint shaft housing on the hub. Also swore a lot trying to dismantle the Auto Hub, the little bloody "C" spring clip thingy. GRR. Squeak cured though so happy man, and everything that was dismantled was cleaned and greased ready for next time.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Having emptied the water out of the rear wiper control box for about the 3rd time in as many years I thought enough was enough so drilled a 2mm hole in the bottom of the cover so the box cover is now self draining. Checked the axle oil - hasn't lost any during the winter despite increased use of the car due to the weather.
