Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well, yesterdays mission was the swappage of the gearbox on the Bus.
Replacement one turned up from Robbie on Friday, and it went on, eventually yesterday. Had forgotten just how much of a pain they can be though. The gearbox split from the engine easy enough, and the new and old slid on and off easy enough, but undoing things like the prop bolts, downpipe studs, and worst of the lot, gearbox crossmember - not fun. Many, many thanks to Phil - Houndog for sorting a set of ramps, and the assistance of him and his kettle during proceedings, especially given his duff shoulder. New 'box much better, seems to have slicker shifts, etc, although we were mildly shocked to see red automatic oil coming out the transfer case on draining. Think I'll be giving it another dose of fresh oil when I replace the crossmember for one that's bit bent, with sheared bash plate bolts in Once again, thanks to Houndog, and there Is a standing order to shoot me if I ever mention another gearbox swap Jim...
