Hampshire's first ever WEEKEND event...
Hopefully if everyone is happy with it then I'm planning on a two day event.
The dates are:
Weekend of 17 & 18/03/07
The idea is for a 'very' early start on the Saturday morning (probably circa 0730-0830), out laning all day long... working our way across Hampshire (as the crow flies covering probably no more than 30-40 miles but filling in an entire day) and then camping on Saturday night with BBQ & BEER etc at the camp site followed by P&P on Sunday...
I've chosen mid March as the days will be starting to get a bit longer.. but still chilly enough to be fun, and also still wet enough to make it a challenge with any luck.
I've yet to find out pricing and work it all out.. but you'll have fair warning on the pricing. (UPDATED FURTHER DOWN THIS THREAD)
BUT!!!
All laning will be done to GLASS Codes of Conduct.
That means that any number of vehicles over 4 will then mean we will go as several groups. But don't worry about that right now as it's something which will be worked out later and will be sorted depending on who is coming etc.
The lanes will ALL be suitable for beginner or experienced 4wder alike..
The P&P day is what you make of it.. but available for all levels of 4wder.
But what I want now is a show of hands..
Who wants to go???
(Doesn't mean that you are necessarily within the Hampshire catchment area, just means you want to go, whether from Wales, Devon, or Scotland).

Halfords do a fairly nice little tent & sleeping bag deal for about £40.. that's where mine came from.. quite a nice little tent too.
Gotta stay the night mate, too far to do a return trip over two days of fun, and you've gotta stay for the beer and campfires etc, hehehe.

Dolphin,
I'm sure the kids would be fine.
Can always find you a local guesthouse/hotel or something if you'd like, probably cheaper than the return journey if you were doing both days.
Rob,
If you want to try out some Green Lanes drop me a PM and we'll arrange a day out, I'll probably be out next week some time for a half day. And probably the week after as well. I'm trying out some new lanes if I get the chance.. That way I can put together my route.
At the present point in time I have a thought about the route. I've been looking for a route from Andover to Alton, but there isn't really one available.
So at this moment I'm considering a starting point of BASINGSTOKE town, then moving south for a couple of miles on tarmac and heading in to the lanes... Going into the green lanes and in between the lanes is then all little country laneways so that we aren't on main roads.
I've currently got about 12 lanes that I'm looking at for the day if I'm lucky, but I have to get the £ to fuel up and go out and play for the entire day to check them and time them..
(RICK, want to come play & explore?)

Feel free to come up and follow me around a few new lanes to check them out if you like...
Starting some organising tomorrow if I can. Going to visit a P&P site to ask about a group booking and camping availability etc.. as well as to check out a few new lanes if I get time.

Rightio..
I've been out today and found a P&P site.
It's £200 for the entire day. I've got to ring him up later and check the availability though.
So if we've got 8 vehicles (or there abouts in two groups for laning and all together for the P&P site) then we're looking at £25 each for the entire day's use of the site and it'd be booked JUST FOR FOG!!
I know that this site is used a LOT by Land Rover types and one of the people helping the farmer who owns the land said "Oh, the Frontera, they're not very good are they?" so I reckon that we've got to show them what for!!!!
I've also driven a few new lanes today.. quite a fun day all in all.

Just so everyone knows, I DO have another option for a P&P site which I will be investigating tomorrow.
It involves visiting a large landholder to ask.. But I'll post more when I know.

This one is just outside of Alton.
I'll get back to you on the possibility of a different site.
