Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Today i have been mostly playing with front brake calipers....
Mine has suffered with the usual stickyness, due to a holed gaiter allowing crud to accumulate inside and eventually seize things up. Ive removed, cleaned, replaced the piston 3 times in the 3 1/2 yrs ive owned my sport. Managed to pick up a 2nd hand caliper from an M reg sport just before christmas with a view of eventualy getting round to swapping it with the sticky one. well today was the day, and guess what......it was the wrong size caliper. Have spoken to the seller, apparently the M reg sport was an German import (Facelift). it didn't have an interior when i went to collect the calliper so it wasn't obvious. BUT....The piston was the correct size. so removed both pistons, new one and the sticky one, using a bicycle pump! and gaiters. and swapped them over Fingers crossed that will now see me for a fair few miles ![]() Phil.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Thats me home after a long day. Went to enquire about the 2.3 lwb fronties an he had scrapped them not only that he scrapped the 2.8 swb total tot, he wouldnt sell either of them for less that £500 depites sitting for 3 years but he scrapped them total madness he then wanted 100 quid for 7 wheels which was a good bargian set of 15" deep dish alloys with good wrangler tyres and few other wheels i took a set of 15" steels with crp tyres for £50 so the pajero wheels i have on mine might be up for sale.
I then collected a set of sri car seats a mate was selling to give to mate who was buying . He is making gaming chairs out them for his xbox. i then took my mum up the glasgow highlands to view an buy a passat then home after going through a monsoon now waiting for a chinese and no i havent got pictures of the steel wheels 1989 Isuzu Trooper 2.6 (3.1 conversion )

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Bought some of that good brand engine oil from large supermarket in readiness for springtime oil change of engine and gearbox.
Yesterday - the realities of older motor ownership - moving panels aside to see extent of corrossion in o/s sill - handy thing those digital cameras, enables you to see where your head don't fit. Hope to solidify the rust with chemical warfare. Entrapment of moisture not helped by those massive sponge blocks behind the panel cards. Checking other favourite areas too like forward boltplate of roll over bar; bulkhead at clutch reservoir. Slight orange traces so hoping to have caught early. Kodiak Transglobe 2.0 SWB

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Drinks, crazy that you can buy a runner cheaper than a goosed motor from a scrappy. Found that out last year. Since then the motor I had my eye on has gone to the destruction machine what a waste.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!80mph....sorry that should have read as 70mph on the dot.i never speed, well not according to my driving licence (for now, awaiting letter)....oh, what a feeling..after 2 months of driving an asthmatic giant red snail, with a top speed of 60, being able to get to the speed limit on the motorway, without a dirty great hill or a 70mph following wind, is great...overtaking, i'd forgotten what it was like..no longer will I beaten off the lights by little old biddies in micras...
I know it's not really an on topic post...but it, for me, is an achievement . a "what I done in my truck today" thread might have gone a lot further off topic.. The greatest lesson in life is to know that even us idiots are right sometimes

30 minutes a cuppa & kit kat later & none the wiser i decide to start her up & take her for a test drive anyway & see what happens, if something falls off then something falls off ! starts her up, she sounds ok, no rattles or anything, jump in the drivers seat & see my front number plate in the passenger footwell [ always take it off when the spanners come out cos it gets cracked by my knees] i better put that back before the test drive cos i know my luck now where are the retaining SCREWS jesus how annoying mystery solved i attach plate & test drive my old truck, tickovers still not right but better than it was & still got oily gunk type stuff weeping from back of the head somewhere think its the gasket where the egr valve mount bolts to head ? bloody cars WHY AINT I GOT AN ALL SINGING & ALL DANCING SIGNATURE LIKE BOXY & DRIFTY ?

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Fix a problem, find a problem!
Fixed - Squeaky suspension sorted after a liberal dosing of spray lube (I can now drive without sounding like a piece of agricultural machinery), cleaned the sump bash guard of about a kilo of sludge, cleaned off the sump. Tested out new 6T bottle jack (£15 from eBay!) Found - an oil leak though, around the oil filter housing, hence the clean off, will run and inspect later, not too big though by the looks of things. Front brakes will need new pads and discs before long. Rain/wind and darkness stopped play. Guess thats the pleasure of owning a 13yr old motor. Ah well, keeps me out of the wife's hair. Have a nice Saturday evening y'all, a few beers later for me. If it bleeds, I can kill it.
