Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Changed the brake pads on the Bus yesterday... Eventually... After sorting a bit of a bodge-up with the help of Houndog. Cheers fella
Whipped off the NSF wheel to discover that one pad was pretty much down to the metal backing, while the other was still about 7mm thick. Not a problem with the caliper, but with the slider bolts that hold it to the carrier. One of them snapped on removal, but after a bit of inspection, it looks more like the bolt had snapped some time previously, and been bodged back together, as there was evidence of welding on it, and the bit we removed was not in good shape. Thankfully Phil knew a scrappy not too far away with a Frontera in, and we found a 2.2 with its brakes intact, and grabbed both carriers. Only got the bropken one changed on the Bus though, as the OSF one had a seized bolt holding the carrier to the hub, but as that caliper was moving okay, and the pads were changed, left that for another time. No idea at what stage in ownership things were fiddled with, but the thought now is that both the caliper carriers on the Bus were non-genuine, comparing to the ones we lifted off the 2.2. Who decided to bodge things with the bolt is even more puzzling. Ahh well, she feels a lot better braking now Jim...

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I ordered a set of new boots for it! 265/75 16 General AT2's
I chose them over BF Goodrich AT's as I got the impression that the Generals are a bit more quiet on road. Other than that the pattern and looks seem fairly similar, I think.
