How do all.

I currently own two vauxhall cavaliers, a 1.7td (isuzu) and 4x4 turbo but currently in bits being restored.

Been looking at 4x4's for ages, always wanted one for occasional greenlaning etc.

Went from looking at defenders, to shoguns, discoverys etc. But started to here good comments about fronteras, which if im honest always liked but wasent sure how good they are.

Anyway, think im going to start putting to one side for one. just not sure which model to go for, i prefer the lwb. an diesel would be better for me.

now i know theres the 2.3, 2.5 an 2.8 (i like the earlyer models) but not sure what engines are made by who, apparently the isuzu 2.8 is good? dont like the sound of the 2.5 having a ecu? an the 2.8 having DMF problems?

2.3 sounds alrite, mechanical pump? see on my 1.7td cav, ive turned the boost up and also increased the fuel, also running on a 50/50 mix of diesel and WVO, havent done it becuase i like it to be faster, well it helps somtimes, but its made it a much more pleasent drive.

so really looking for a TD frontera LWB that is simple in terms of no ecu if there is one that is all mechanical pump etc? can be lightly tuned and run on a diesel and WVO mix if ofcourse a combination of the above is possible.

any advice and info is much appreciated.

Simple, yet gutsy, and pretty damn reliable...what more can you ask for in a fronty

Welcome to FOG.
The 1.7TD Isuzu engine was (is) bullet proof, most reliable cav and if serviced regular will go to the moon and back, and then some.

Now, the 2.8 fronty is much of the same pure diesel indulgence.
If you go for the 2.5, don’t be put off by the ecu
And of course, if you dare, and whish to have more Isuzu indulgence in the B series fronty then the 3.2 petrol will not disappoint

thanks for the welcomes everyone.

At the moment i keep looking at the 2.8 lwb, an the 2.0i swb, the 2.0i becuase i know these engines inside out, an the 2.8 because i quite like driving diesels with the low down grunt.
