well what can i say, ste promises promises, never seams to show. ooo but when the hubs need doing, andy help, you are getting as bad simo, furball finally got dirty, (yeah) sooty got stuck in and adjust his hand brake, i adjusted his idle, and we discovered why his truck kept dying, the primmer is fubar, not dragging fuel up, oh his auto hub is fubar, it wont lock, the cir clip is in place, but as it moves forward, you can see it trying to lock, simo fitted his specs,



and i got to put a set of pads in one side,

Well I went to Andy's and met Furball, Simo and Drift. Nice to meet you all and thanks for the banter and advice.

Managed to tighten the handbrake (although I think its the wheel end that needs adjusting too) and fix a spotlight. But also worked out that I need a new o/s/f hub and that I've a fuelling issue.

I'll get some EGR blanking plates made and try and get some coil spacers done too (maybe not all in titanium).

I went and met spike i had the roof off and windows out , i pull over an a silver mx-5 parks in front off me with its roof off, he had to go one better. Anyway went home the long way through the country side and took some picture. Man the looks i got driving it was funny people just stared. it goes faster without the glass and roof feels alot lighter

I've gotten dirty before with the truck, just not quite that dirty. Anyway, oil, oil filter and fuel filter changed, drain plug fitted and top turbo pipe replaced with nice new blue 4 ply silicone jobby (I will have several pieces available at Bala for those wot wants one, but you'll need to trim it to fit).

Truck now running much better and pulling better too now that I'm gettin full boost off the turbo. Just need to tweak the idle a teeny bit maybe

Today i went over to Colleys Wried up his lights for him,his truck looks good now.
Then we fitted my new springs and its a right one to do but we got there in the end
So my truck is 37" high in total from the floor to the wheel arch, so has gone up by 4"
Just need to change the shocks when they get hear as they have been stretched to much

How easy is this to do Ste?? Ie, is it a "can be done in a field at Bala" job???

as mine hadent been on the road for over a week due to a cloged injectors i took it for a drive today. ahh feels great to have it going again

Yes real easy, will need a blanking plate knocked up with holes drilled but a ten minute job otherwise,never saw a stuck bolt or nut, only issues are at the turbo end should you want to remove the pipe near the bulk head, Ideally I would like a fully tool kit in case the bolt brakes as its very likely to do.

But basic egr removal is very very easy.

If I can get hold of an old egr vale I can make a blanking plate out of any 2mm steel or such, mine have well gone just need a template, but we have just used a drill and grinder to make them before.

Seem to recall seeing an EGR metal gasket type thing amongst the 'stuff' on the floor at Andy's place today. Could be used as a template maybe?

"What did you do to your truck today?" -I spent 7 HOURS doing ONE leaf spring!! OK, so some of it was spent fettling a leaky fuel tank, and I may have enjoyed a little sun over lunch, but my god that was a pain in the a**e job.

What should have been 2-3 hours for both sides was instantly scuppered by the fact that it took an hour to remove the 4 u-bolt nuts from under the axle plates. I wouldn't mind but I've been at them all week with the wire brush and penetrating oil in the full knowledge they'd be a tad stiff... Having done this I then realised Milners "frontera" leaf springs should really be labelled "Nearly Frontera"leaf springs. Cue a trip to B&Q for a little angle grinder (got a big one for laying patios but was a good excuse to buy a smaller one that's easier to wield) to remove some of the mounting bracket on the chassis. Thought I was there at that point only to then find (having spent quite some time "persuading" the axle to line up with the locator on the spring) that the knob on the new spring is 3-4 ml bigger than the hole it's meant to fit into...cue even more grinding, this time with the grinding bit on the drill as I didn't have a proper bit big enough and couldn't be bothered going to B&Q again On a plus side I've now got a truck that lurches significantly less to one side (it goes the other way now ) and have lifted it from 32" floor to arch up to 35" floor to arch. That old spring really was shot!

Ah well, with luck I've now got all the kit and knowledge of what I need to attack on the other side so tomorrow's task should be slightly more straight forward...update to follow!

I feel ashamed now, all I done was just jet wash the bird poo off. I did however get an old midland cb and thought about where to put it.


it was just a jet bird poo off, rather than a proper clean..so I'm still on 2 (proper) washes per year, but I've worked out it's allowed 1 proper one before Bala.

I'm going to get a few made up, so will have spares after mine has been done.
