Washed yesterday and given a serious polishing this afternoon. Have identified some areas thet need rust treating. :DMechanics first then bodywork as the weather improves.

Removed and repainted front grill, removed front bumper and hammerited front crossmember. Fixed broken fog light wiring. Took apart previous owners birds nest stereo wiring attempt, raced all the speaker wires, and soldered them onto correct ISO plugs. Swore at the state of the bumpewr and considering getting a new one as opposed to getting this tin worn riddled thing cleaned, filled and painted ... Then again might just go for an aftermarket one with winch and recovery point mounts.

Pics (I know I know ... its a Mk.1 Trooper, but I used to own a Frontera, and at least this Trooper has the 2.8TD 4JB1T so there is some similarity)

Took here in for the MOT this morning. Awaiting the impending call of doom :D :D :D

Fingers crossed, checked everything I could think of and she just had new suspension bits on the front so should be ok. Just the usual annual worry and aggravation.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

TYPICAL!

Just called the garage to see how the truck had done and they said that the auxiliary belt tensioner had given up the ghost in the last 3/4 of the emissions test.

Gonna drop round tomorrow morn with a new belt and tensioner from the spares truck (which has already paid for itself).

The good news is everything else had passed and the emissions were looking good until the tensioner let go :D

It appears that the 2 things my truck likes to eat are starter motors and aux belt tensioners.

5 starters and this will be my 4th tensioner in 7 years of ownership.

Pulled the nudge bars off the front bumper and stripped them to metal. Gave them a coat of silver paint and was not impressed with the finish. Will smooth them down and get a coat of black on them and go from there.

Pulled apart the wiring for the tow electrics and found the socket was one large lump of rusty metal. Grabbed a spare socket and made a good job of it. Works fine now.

Managed to do some work on the 2.5 Fronty today by fixing the steering colum wobble....Turned out to be the typical loose top fixing bolts.

I also managed to remove the 2.5 heads today only to find one is cracked causing my coolant problems which aint good but hey ho will have to get hold of another one sometime.

dReplaced and relocated rear diff breather to the engine bay and replaced the front one for good measure and extended it rounf to the drivers side so if i decide to put a snorkle on it the breather pipes can be tapped into that. Filled the rear diff back up with oil as it was empty. Happy days :D .

In keeping with the MOT surprises Iv now got another 12 months of motoring to look forward to with the old girl.

2 advisories, rear brake pipes (Front to rear) slightly corroded and rear most fuel pipes slightly corroded.

Oddly enough the dicky body mount wasnt even mentioned and the emissions were way less then then expected so it seems I can drive the old girl without fear of murdering the ickle butterflies or retribution from the tree huggers.
