Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Got the welder out and started my exhaust project.
After checking the cat and exhaust on the spares truck I realised they are 63mm tubes. I thought they looked a bit bigger then the ones on the old girl so I measured up. The exhaust and cat on the Old Girl are 54mm. The spares truck centre baffle was shot so I cut that off with a 9" angle grinder, got some exhaust tube from the local exhaust place and set about cutting and welding. Just got the final measuring to do now, Il tack the exhaust flanges with everything bolted to the truck and remove the exhaust for final welding so I get a good fit. Just in time too cause my exhaust manifold gasket is blowing a wee bit on startup so it was lucky that I received a new manifold from Fronty 4x4 today, the one without the holes so now I can get rid of the Secondary air injection system, match the manifold and head to the gasket ports and hopefully get a little boost in torque from the increased bore size. Been using 1.6mm rods and a DC inverter Arc welder. Reasonable results. Perhaps not as neat as they could be but no slag inclusion or blowing through yet.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!My new neighbour, Tom, from Ireland via not far from where I grew up in southern Scotland ,has a wee trailer thing that looks like a road drill compressor but is actually a diesel powered stick welder with a special arc starting thing and can handle seriously BIG welding rods and Little ones too.
I like my new neighbour. PURR PUURR No more "Pigeon Poo" welding his machine is intelligent. If you need something done quickly just ask a busy woman then get the f"k out of her way.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!while out in the slush last night so much for the snow i noticed despite there been atleast £25 of fuel the fuel light was on and the guage showed empty. Today dropped the tank again finding out i forgot to cut slats for water on the tank gurd cover i made, removed all the hoses and connector dragged tank out removed sender unit. When i put it in i never checked it what i had done was knocked the float rod past the wee lug that stops it from dropping down completely popped it back in place tank on works great. Hour labour on the deck im getting better.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!For the second time in 12months had a good tidy up inside the shorty. Found a few sockets and spanners that I thought I'd lost (and replaced). Fitted a set of cheap seat covers that some one bought me for chrimbo and a brand new air freshener.
