WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Put new tow bar electrics on and had i looked at the manifold
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Performed some diagnostic tests on the various sensors to try and pinpoint the dreaded EML. Discovered a lazy Lambda sensor which was giving an almost permanent lean condition so I took it out and cleaned it up by soaking the tip in Gunk degreaser then scrubbing with a toothbrush before rinsing with some water.
Put it back in, left it disconnected for the time being and started the car. Set the engine speed to 2000rpm for 5 mins to dry the sensor. Switched off and reconnected the lambda. Started her up and the lambda is now switching between rich and lean conditions very quickly indeed. Unfortunately while doing this a small section of rubber hose (approx 3") which goes from the heater matrix to the head burst showering the engine bay with steam and coolant. I had a look at the donor car for a spare and would you believe its one of two hoses the previous owner had cut to get the head off New one on order ($1.75) and should have it by friday. It is a different size at each end unfortunately so I couldnt replace it with anything I had in the garage. Just glad it happened in the garage and not while out somewhere. On a side note about Lambda sensors. I found a web article HERE that said a lambda sensor takes a reading from the exhaust gas and the outside air. I have never heard of this before so gave the outside a good clean with gunk as well. At the end of the sensor where the wires protrude there is a ring of small holes around the sensor, whether these are for testing the external air or not I dont know but would be interested in hearing your info on this.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Collected new key from local garage, loaded Freya onto my mates trailer and set off to the nearest Opel dealer. 20 minutes later Freya is plugged into thier computer and the key was programmed to the car. Freya lives, total cost so far 250 euros for the car, 80 for the key and 25 for the programming.
She sounds as sweet as can be, and from the quick drive I had is absolutely sorted. Next stop take her for a CT (french MOT), insure her and then get her french registered (thanks westo123 for the info on eurococ for the certificate of conformity) By early new year should have her completely legal and on the road Many thanks to all who have answered my posts, would never have got this far without you Fifi - purple 1995 2.0i sport. Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Welded up a new rear exhaust section for the old one rotted away.
I didn't find any reasonably priced from dealers, so I bought some universial parts and clamped and welded it up The universal parts with that big a silencer was available only in 2,5" and 3", so I had to go with bigger pipes... Was really sad about that Think it looks a lot cooler with the large straight pipe than with the old one pointed downwards. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A bit larger size, the new one ![]()
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Cheap as well
Silencer, 2"-2,5" piece, 90, 45 and 30 degree standard clamped bends, a 90 degree short bend for welding (trimmed down to, 60-70 degrees?), 50cm section of straight tube and four clamps: £90 in Norway. The workshops charged around £450 for the job
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!They can be taken off and straightened, odd chance they are cranked, as after market cranked arms are available but I think they are only available from stinkyfab in the states.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!In theory provided both the arms are bent to the same degree then I dont see any problems (MOT tester may pick it up?) but if both are different then the rear axle wont be square to the chassis, only by a very small amount but it might be enough to wear the rear tires.
However a bend may weaken them. They are hollow after all. I replaced one of mine not so long ago after an accident, took about 5 minutes. 1 big nut and bolt each end and a small bolt holding the handbrake cable clamp in place. As it such an easy part to remove I cant see a scrapyard charging much for them. Last edited by Sir-Doris on Tue Dec 08, 2009 2:30 pm, edited 1 time in total.
