A friend wrote:Everybody seems to be missing a trick here......... The Bearinator is tubular   why not put the new bearing on the shaft & tap it parallel, then put The Bearinator on the shaft upside down & use it as a DROP HAMMER,the weight of the slide will save an awful lot of your energy

Also you are both very welcome  although it is a real strain sitting over Dave`s drinking tea & shooting the breeze  :D

I thought about it Bernie but the bearinator doesnt have a big enough ID to slide over the halfshaft.
In retrospect if I had my garage sorted out properly I could have probably found a way of supporting the halfshaft vertically with the hub facing upwards and used the bearinator that way. Either way its done now. :D :D :D

Suggest for the MK2 the bearinator shaft has a larger ID so it fits over the half shaft and can be used in the manner that Bernie speaks of ;-)
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

Jet washed all the winter crud and mud off the bottom, then spent a hour cleaning the road in the Close

Rolling around in water .... what fun  well thats that done for another year

Ive had a very long week at work, feel knackered , but managed to find the will to spot weld nuts to my brkoen studs on the exhaust manifold and fetch them out. Now blanked the holes where the EGR went and totally isolated the birds nest from pipes and wires ready to remove the lot and make some room under the bonnet.

Well done Dave, does that mean you and Graeme will be ut Sunday?
