After all my grief with the engine on the 2.5 tractor, I took it for it's dreaded MOT, having not had the fronty long I had no real idea if there was anything likely to cause a failure. "IT PASSED" with a couple of advises so now, it's INSURED, MOT'D and TAXED, all ready for the meet on Sunday

Made up some brackets to mount the truckman top properly on the chevy, repaired the tailgate locking rods and sourced a rear seal for the tailgate (landcruiser door rubber) as it was missing and hence the tailgate rattled.
Removed the chequer plate running boards as they are pointless, not strong enough to stand on and a pain to clean. and would get ripped of on something sooner or later.
These will be replaced by a set of jackable rocksliders that I will make shortly and weld directly to the chassis. (these might also be a mouting point for the external cage which is looking more likely   )
Truck looks much taller with the running boards off
Measured up for the roof rack and started designing it...but will maybe do differently and incorporate into external cage, dunno yet...
Dug out a pair of lwb wings with arch extensions which will replace the dented chevy wings unless I come up with a o/s sport wing first as have a good sport n/s wing.
Dug out a sport bumper and lubed up all the bolts so I can get the end caps off another day.

Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again...
She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body...
Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer!

Adjusted Hand brake then dug out my New Cap for the Eezibleed so far so good, fitted it on the reservoir :D

Image

Found a handy place for the bottle

Image

let the spare wheel down to the 20 psi working pressure as Gunsons recommend, connected the air to the bottle and

Image

It is amazing how quick 1/2 litre blows out at that feeble pressure. :(

So any body wanting to use this system let the spare down to 5 psi & pull the rubber strap twice as tight as you are comfortable with

Bleed through whole brake system & clutch, then spent the remainder of the day washing the drive

Not to my truck by CheekyChicks... Changed a rear wheel bearing.

I called Weave a few days ago and asked him about The Bearinator, A friend, top bloke that he is went and got it from him as he had a few bits to do that way anyway and I collected it from A friend last Saturday. Well the bearing arrived tuesday and I decided I wanted a whole day set aside for it so started it today (Wed).

After me telling my dad how the Bearinator was specifically design for Frontera wheel bearings he took an interest and wanted to see how it worked.

I took all the gubbins off, caliper, disc, brake shoes etc and attached the monster slide hammer to the hub.

I thought I would take a little practice swing with it first just to get a feel for the slide action and imagine my surprise when the halfshaft came straight out and flew between my legs following the hammer.

Can I just say how DISAPPOINTED I was! I was expecting the veins in my temples to be popping out and beads of sweat to be running down my forehead and making my shirt stick to my back.

In all honesty though getting the old bearing off the halfshaft more then made up for the lack of hammer action and getting the new one on was a tedious process involving lots of tapping with a lump hammer to get the bearing and collar on properly.

All in all it still took a good few hours, what with tea stops and cigarettes and chatting to cheekychick and wandering into town for grinding discs and general faffing around. Not something I would like to do again in a hurry but all in all not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Thanks very much Weave mate and A friend for FOG expressing it.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

Everybody seems to be missing a trick here......... The Bearinator is tubular   why not put the new bearing on the shaft & tap it parallel, then put The Bearinator on the shaft upside down & use it as a DROP HAMMER,the weight of the slide will save an awful lot of your energy

Also you are both very welcome  although it is a real strain sitting over Dave`s drinking tea & shooting the breeze  :D

I think that the tube needs to be a bit wider, we did think of that, and thought it might be a good idea for mk2 :D that and there are welds on that end from the Alex/Dave improv when they had to use it to get a bearing out that had stayed attached to the car  .

But hey, it is all done now  fingers crossed he doesn't need anything else for his MOT

Glad it gave you a reason for more tea drinking A friend
