Welcome "cheekychick"
Betws-y-coed - not too far from where we stopped over for a weekends laning back in March (Pont Cyfyng - the old chapel bunk house).
There's a stretch of Sarn Helen in Coed-y-Brenin Forest which is a nice drive, although the bridge is out so you have to detour along the forestry commission tracks for a bit, oh, and there is a big hole to get stuck in ( YouTube Video)
You're also not too far from "Lost Lake" which is also in that video.
Lovely part of the country

Love the video, I bet you said 'oops' when you got stuck.
know the forestry tracks over in Coed-y-Brenin and Gwydir and others quite well, handy for avoiding the tourists in the summer when you want to nip to the shop, and great fun for scaring the pants off your townie mates when you know the fronty can take the pace! not that I am evil or anything!
You'll have to let me know if you go over there again - I might brave the water?!?!?
