Hello All, new on here, great site, will probably be backwards and forwards on here for a while for your advice. I have recently been donated a '95 LWB 2.8TD, an MOT failure. Heres the failure list

Could you let me know if there is anything really tricky/expensive here, it might save me a lot of cursing if I try and do it myself ....

NS Outer Front CV gaiter split

NS Front Lower Suspension Arm has excessive play in ball joint

NS Front Wheel bearing has excessive play

Offside front lower shock absorber has worn rubber bush

I'm a reasonably compitent DIY mechanic so will attempt most things with a bit of sound advice. Any tips on purcasing parts would be great too.....

Any help with this list would be much appreciated.....

that little lot looks relativly easy...

CV boots ....get a split one and glue it together

Lower ball joints .....Trugga has done his ball joints

Welcome, If you need to know anything about your fronty, someone on here will have the answer, they've never failed me yet and have already saved me £££££'s by detailing jobs i can do myself which normally i would pay a garage to do.

Yep, I've done all that lot with the exception of the CV boot.

The bottom ball joints were a bugger and in the end I got someone else to do them for me (BikerBarney).

Where abouts are you located? I would possibly hazard a guess to IoW due to the username.. but if we know for sure we can possibly point you in the direction of someone to help.

Everything you've listed is completely DIY'able, however as mentioned bottom ball joints are a bit of a pain.

Will be ordering parts this week for the repairs, and hope to have it back on the road sometime in August.

Dont know whether this is the right place to post this but I need a few bits and pieces to replace broken and worn parts I have found in giving it the once over -

Rear Nearside Exterior Door Handle (mines sheared off )
Offside Wing Mirror (Glass only?)
Tailgate Seal (Metallic part rusted out, lost grip)
Boot Carpet (Looks like paint has been spilled)
Sort of Rubber Doughnut Wheel Thingy on tailgate glass (MIA)

Just wondered if anyone knows the best way to obtain these ie. buy new or salvage. Any pointers would be most helpful.
