Hubby & me just got a 2.3 lwb Frontera on a K Reg, seems to run nice but hubby said it felt a bit lumpy, take it uphill and it lost power quite bad, we've had it too our local garage guy he said there's a valve down anyway hubby's quite good with most stuff so he's stripped the top engine down, had a look n sorted it but the only thing is he don't know the torque settings for the tappets which were very loose? Could anybody plz help as we'd like to get it rebuilt too see if we've solved the problem, only got 3 weeks till we need to pull our caravan too Cornwall & want it running its best.

if you're on about the "cam shaft pedestal retaining bolts" ...it's 30Nm/22lbf ft

best bet is to get yourselves a "Hanynes" for it ......it's usually quite good for repair and maintenance stuff (and for using as a beer/coffee stand)

Welcome, If you need to know anything about your fronty, someone on here will have the answer, they've never failed me yet and have already saved me £££££'s by detailing jobs i can do myself which normally i would pay a garage to do.

Cheers all of you for the welcome, also all the advice & answers, we went out & bought a Haynes Manual, looked at all your reply's hubby bought a torque wrench went out & did his thing, then came the rain so we had too retreat!

Tommorrow if it holds off he will put everything back together & see what happens, fingers crossed!

Will let you know how it goes.
