NEW FRONTERA OWNER N. IRELAND

Hello folks,

David here, based in Northern Ireland and just bought a 2000 2.2 TDI Limited on Wed hoping it will be a decent family jeep also to be used for regular towing and light off-roading when required.

Previously drove Landrover Defenders for work (owned by work) and was lucky enough to enjoy some serious amateur off roading (actually necessary) on a daily basis - but they have become too overpriced locally and I think my wife would disapprove of the agricultural feel to them...besides had spanners to them every week.

Spotted a Frontera driving past and thought 'that looks a pretty nice shape' so bought it.

Think it was a good buy??? (lack of choice generally seems to equal higher prices than mainland UK) £1000 - just under 86000 - far from perfect but seems reasonably healthy...slow but comfy and spacious jeep.

I've read all the reviews...THB most of the negatives focus on things I dont care about - only a few seem to be regards reliability issues.

Had it over the field yesterday - flooded - road tyres - slipped about but got me there and back!

Anyway - for a grand its got to be a winner! And my little fella's love it!

Lots of little things I need to ask you experienced Frontera owners about....

Hi mate and welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your Fronty as much as we do. I have just had to bite the bullet with mine and decide to brake him up by I do intend getting a 2.2Dti myself after Christmas all being well. Oh by the way they hate being called "Jeeps" co's them thing's are horrible American rubbish!!!!

Ah right - gotcha!!! In my locality everything other than a Landy is referred to as a jeep!

Must say...its rough around the edges but I'm fairly impressed - seems to have a decent low box and its VERY VERY easy on diesel,...and I'm referring to stop/start driving in traffic and lugging the trailer around. In fact after my first 230 miles I'm seriously shocked at how frugal its proving to be for such a heavy lump.

I know of a professional body repairs and sprayer close to me, but if you can do the preparation I can stick a coat of paint & lacquer on.
