Newbie needs advice.I joined this site to find out about the Frontera warts and all, as its on my list of possibles for a 2nd car to hump my fishing tackle around and I will find out more by asking owners for advise than I ever will talking to some one who is trying to sell me whatever piece of rubbish he thinks he can dump on me.
I want to get something that is reliable and cheaper to run than my Saab. The cost of services for them starts at Bl**dy Hell then up like a rocket. Looking through the forums I feel that I wont need a degree in computor sciences just to do a basic fluids and filters service, and I feel certain that the parts for it will be a lot cheaper than the Saab. I have been looking at (on the internet) the 2.5 lwb are these a good choice? concidering I want something that is reasonably cheap to run and reliable. Please help THE BOSS is moaning about the car smelling of wet nets, bait ect . If I can stop using the car for fishing she will have to find something else to moan about . Bet it wont take long. what used to be a six-pack is now a barrel
Its not that Im fat its just that my muscles have relaxed
Re: Newbie needs advice.Welcome to fog its a great site.I have a 2.3 m reg lwb which does 35mpg solo around town more on a long run less when towing.I really like it I had it for two years. I havent driven any other fronteras but I would think that the 2.5 would give you a bit more power which if I'm honest the 2.3 could do with. The one that seems the most popular is the 2.8.I would definately have a lwb.The disadvantage with a 2.3 is the swing spare carrier which weighs a lot.I've taken mine off and put a door on but it took me a long time so I would say the any model with a swing door would be better. The 2.3 does have a drop down tailgate which I did quite like and I may put it back on again someday. My reason for getting a frontera was to have a stronger car than an astra estate but was something I could still get long stuff in and use as a second family gar at weekends. If you are just going fishing with it a 2.3 would be fineand you would always be able to get out of any muddy spots and park in places where a normal car cannot go . Trugga's website is worth reading.See if you can test drive one of each. Overall I'm really pleased with mine and love driving it even though its not the fastest.Hope this helps.

Re: Newbie needs advice. You should definatley get one.
I initially bought mine as a second car for shooting and transporting my dogs. Then I went off roading and now all I can think about is lifting her and fitting big mud tyres. You will never look back. Parts are very cheap, usually from ebay etc or on here and even a mechanical moron like me can do work on it. Also the guys on here are very knowledgeable and helpful.
