While £300 is always unwelcome after buying a new car, as has been said before, you will spend just as much fighting for a better settlement and break any business relationship you have with the dealer.

Sounds lilke you got a good offer, and one I would accept if it were me. The dealer appears to be reasonable in this case.

UPDATE:

I read up on "The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (Amended)" and decided to confront the dealership regarding this.

They ended up coming back to me saying that they will refund me my money and give me the tyres off the car.

The other option is to stick to the original plan and pay the £300 which I am doing. They tell me the pump is off the car and has been "sent away to be recon'd" - I thought it was normally on an exchange basis. Aparently it should be done by next Wednesday.

I think the recon pump is going to cost circa £550 and then there is the labor charges on top. I can imagine this job costing about £1000 all in so effectively they are contributing £700ish.

I hope this turns out to be the right decision!
