Been lurking on the forum for a couple of days and thought it high time I introduced myself. Just bought a 2002 Frontera Sport Olympus 2.2i on spur of the moment (Hopefully not a fit of madness
) with 46k on the clock for the wife, to replace her knackered Golf GTi.The truck is looking in pretty good fettle; last stamped service was at 32k, so I think it is due a full service before using it in anger. Tyres want changing as well, look like the rear tyres are originals, was looking at BFG AT’s as I have them on my VW T25 Syncro.
Hoping someone here can advise on if it is worth doing the cam belt as I can’t tell if it has ever been done, or any other recommended maintenance that I should do (read some of the horror stories of 2.2i going bang, sounds like most Vauxhall petrol engines unless you give them TLC). I’m hoping I’ve not bought a pup, but it seems to drive OK engine sounds quiet enough.
Looking forward to meeting you all and catching up with the midlands section in the near future, hopefully make the 2014 Wales weekend event.
