Hello Fellow Fronty members.. My name is FRED.. I am retired 62 year old.. Widower and Grand dad.
I have just got myself a FRONTERA 2.2 San Diego.. on LPG gas. Which I have always been wanting.. NOW its here..
Do other members have a Frontera on LPG too. and want to share things of interest to me also.
My 1997 Frontera has only done 66000 miles from NEW. So I am very lucky to find such a LOW mileage vehicle.
And everything is in TOP condition too. But I do have one thing I would like to change and thats the CLUTCH. Pedal travel is far to high for my likeing.. I have the NEW Clutch etc. and I now need someone to fit it. Due to my age I cannot get down under a vehicle to remove such an heavy transfer gearbox now.. SO I was wondering is there any Local members know of a place near my town that could do such a job for me..
Also.. Any information on the expected MPG I could have on LPG etc..
With Kind Regards to all.. FRED :D
I drive this looking like a CHESHIRE CAT on LPG.. Thinking of the Savings to Petrol Prices..

hi Fred

there are a few of us that run lpg on here so no worries as for mileage you can expect? i would say you should get about 80to 90% of what you get on petrol so if you get 20 to the gallon on petrol you should get about 18 on gas if the gas system has been serviced regular then you should do ok the fact you will be paying between 64p and 80p a litre means you should get around 50-60 miles to a tenner with ease as this is what i get from my 3.2 v6 around town and even better on a run.

there is a spanner day coming up at bobbies in the midlands and if you have not found any willing hands before then to help with your clutch i am sure if you ask nicely it can be added to the list of jobs that are getting done over the weekend and you can come and meet the some of the guys

http://www.fronteraowners.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=48620

but i am sure there will be some guys in your area if you ask will come over for a spanner day one Saturday for bacon butties and bear its the normal fog currency lol

but feel to fire any other questions you have we will always try to answer

have fun with your fronty we do lol

Thankyou DEAN. for that.. I have only had this Frontera two weeks. and I think its doing around 60 - 70 miles to a tenner. being a 2.2 its not really bad. I have the SMILE of a cheshire cat now when I am driving.. Thinking of the price of Petrol.. lol.. :D
Its got the 80 lt tank. Stargas LPG system. with Emmegas electric boxes etc.. I took it to the local LPG gas service centre for a service.. And the service engineer did NOT have to do anything to it.
Its working has it should and never charged me anything for the checkup.. Which I was very pleased about..
Being on Pension I hope this Frontera is going to Help me Save on running costs etc..
Thats Why I purchased it being its got the LPG.. and for its age Its in excellent condition..
Thanks again Dean.. kind Regards.. FRED.. :D

Re: Hello from Northampton by AskDean on Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:27 pm
hi fred you will save last year i did 8875 miles in my 3.2 v6 on £1709 and so far this year looking at the figures i have spent for the last 3000 miles i have done the computer is saying it is working out about 6p a mile so i can complain as the sat nav says the fuel cost for the 3000ish miles it has been rnning on at 79.9p a litre i have put in as the fuel price a liter where i am in nottingham it says i have spent 580 in fuel but i also fill up in leicester which is only 64p a litre so that 580 is going to be more like 550 as i can get 57 liters in my 70l tank when its full and that is 31.20 in leicester if i fill up at the calorgas depo.

i normally put £10 of petrol in a fortnight ad £30 in lpg a week an i on average 200 miles a week. so £70 for 400 miles isnt bad and i think you should get around the same.

Hi Fred

welcome to FOG, there are a couple of us on here that are within stones throw of you.

As for the clutch, are you sure it's the clutch and not the fire wall thats split (might only be a 2.8 TDI problem) giving the feel that the pedal biting point is very high. There's a couiple of posts on here that can explain what to look for and how to repair.

Regards

Stuart
