Hi there all,
I'm not a Frontera Owner but there is something about them that facinates me. Which is why I've joined up on here.
I actually own a very modified Suzuki Jimny - external cage, winch bumper with Superwinch EPi9500, HD metal rear bumper, 3" lift, big tyres, low ratio transfer box etc...
This does not stop me appreciating other offroaders though and I get sick of seeing and reading Landrover this, Landrover that and don't believe that Suzuki's and Landrovers are the bee all and end all.
I nearly bought a Frontera Sport instead of the Jim Jam but got steered away from IFS by all those in the know - but I don't really like being one to follow the hurd - hence the Jimny - albeit they have got far more popular than when I bought mine about 4 years ago.
I still think of getting a Frontera for greenlaning and wot not - which unltimately will get out of hand and I'll build a winch challenge vehicle like the Jimny has got close to!!!
I attend many top challenge events taking photographs as a hobby aside to offroading. I like watching others spending fortunes rather than me spend my money on it and enjoy the photography side. The more hardcore side of offroading is where my interest lie though.
I think I would like a 2.0 early Sport with leaf springs. There's somthing appealing about the simplicity of them with their 8v engine. Even if they are not the most powerful machine about.
How do Fronteras fare with their front shafts and CV's though??? Being from the Zuki World I know Vitaras snap shafts and eat CV's easily and they have an easily damaged ally front diff housing. Do the front shafts on a Fronty run at an angle after lifting on the torsion bars?
Also, I have read on here about Sports having weaker front diffs than LWB versions. What is it about the diff that breaks?
Cheers
Rob

Hi and welcome to the madhouse! I had a sport for several years and never had any problems with the shafts or cv's. At out annual I've not see anyone have that problem either. Have seen b series steering rack snap but there were other reasons for that If you are not in any rush to get a fronty, or would like to see what they are capable of, why not come along to our annual meet? You can have a good look at our trucks there, and maybe pull one or two out with your kit

Cheers chaps.
I don't know if I will get one or not.
If I'm not working I may pop down to the annual meet - will need to wait to see what days I'm working nearer the time.
I don't know about the Jimny winching a Fronty out though - more likely to drag myself to it!
I could always have a LWB as a tow vehicle for the Jimny and use as a Greenlaner and Daily...
Mmmm!!!
